This is a good discussion about where Adam has been and where he is going with his music. He really is a chameleon. His huge voice lets him get into all genres with ease. I follow Adam and love him for a million reasons. His music and voice are part of it. But I've learned a ton of stuff through following him since 2009 about the music business, trends in popular culture, human rights, universal humanity and just plain kindness. It's more than just about songs. I agree. I adore Adam. But didn't know about him during his club kid days when he was in his early 20's and was more underground. But it seems he has been wanting, or needing, to go back to that time with his music and that is fine. He can make the music he wants. But it was thru his music and persona and talent during Idol and after that made me a fan. And Queen was a big deal. And it was great to see him grow and mature and become a worldwide star with status, while keeping his edge. It was exciting. Never really cared about details of his personal life or his friends or clubbing (tho I understand why other do) so I often just scrolled. Electronic or dance music are not for me but I have loved most of what he has done. Really love to see him rock, soul and his emotional ballads. He is one of the best, imo. And I admire him as a person and I think he has been a great representative and spokesperson for his community. So I don't plan to go anywhere. HA.

Below is a link to the BB interview which references Queen and Adam playing characters most of his life.. Here are a couple excerpts.. "... For most of his career, Adam Lambert has been playing characters. Whether in his musical theater roots, his touring role as the frontman of Queen or even on American Idol, the 42-year-old singer says much of his career has been about performance." This from Adam: "I’ve experimented with so many different sorts of directions and genres and sounds over the years. I’ve done a lot and for this, I was like, “Okay, what have I not really done?” I wanted whatever I did next to feel as authentic as possible — I wanted it to feel real to my life. I started my career on stage playing different characters and then stepping onto American Idol, and then stepping in with Queen. I get to sing the most amazing music and tour the world with them. But it’s all serving specific audiences, you know what I mean? And I wanted to do something that sounded like my social life" ... "Even before American Idol, the music that I was listening to in my 20s was a lot of electronic music. It was all dance-y electronic stuff. To be honest, I don’t really listen to classic rock in my free time, but when I auditioned for Idol, it was a lane that I saw opened up for me. And I was like, “I can do that. I like classic rock.”" www.billboard.com/culture/pride/adam-lambert-afters-ep-lgbtq-music-1235689009/LOL there really isn't anything in there that Adam hasn't said before although it might have been bits and pieces here and there. He has ALWAYS talked about the stage as performance but also that it's not really false it's magnifying parts of himself. That doesn't preclude tailoring performances to specific audiences. Good performers are the ones who are good at reading their audience. Bono does much the same thing. He talks a lot about taking in the energy of the crowd and in his case he learned that he can affect the crowd by how he returns that energy. Adam is really no different. Any really good performer is a chameleon reflecting their surroundings. I agree...that makes sense.

Bottom line for me is that I just want him to get a hit song. A song that charts pretty high on Billboard. A song that is big outside the fandom and gives him some general media buzz from a broad audience. If this doesn't happen anytime soon, I'm still ok. I'm enjoying the ride.
How about some rock n roll, Adam????? Try THAT character on for size and see how it fits. Just fine, IMO.

How about some rock n roll, Adam????? Try THAT character on for size and see how it fits. Just fine, IMO. He has had 3 of those -- WWFM, IIHY and Ghost Town. The chances of him having a hit song in his 40s, having now been on the scene for 14 years is slim. Its not impossible --i think it would have to be through a sync with a movie or an ad campaign or something. Most of the artists who were charting in the 2010-15 period are no longer getting big hits or radio play anymore. Even big artists like Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson can't get substantial radio play. GaGa's biggest hits in the last 5/6 years have been from a movie or a duet with a younger artist. That is just the ebb and flow of pop music. Adam and his team have been smart to have him branch out into acting, and being a tv personality as a talent show judge etc This latest super niche project is not going to net him a hit song -- and he knows that.
