Bottom line for me is that I just want him to get a hit song. A song that charts pretty high on Billboard. A song that is big outside the fandom and gives him some general media buzz from a broad audience. If this doesn't happen anytime soon, I'm still ok. I'm enjoying the ride. How about some rock n roll, Adam????? Try THAT character on for size and see how it fits. Just fine, IMO. He has had 3 of those -- WWFM, IIHY and Ghost Town. The chances of him having a hit song in his 40s, having now been on the scene for 14 years is slim. Its not impossible --i think it would have to be through a sync with a movie or an ad campaign or something. Most of the artists who were charting in the 2010-15 period are no longer getting big hits or radio play anymore. Even big artists like Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson can't get substantial radio play. GaGa's biggest hits in the last 5/6 years have been from a movie or a duet with a younger artist. That is just the ebb and flow of pop music. Adam and his team have been smart to have him branch out into acting, and being a tv personality as a talent show judge etc This latest super niche project is not going to net him a hit song -- and he knows that. Actually you made me feel better, and that's not sarcasm. LOL It's good to be reminded that even the highest A-list singers hit their peak and then have to make adjustments to keep at least some momentum going. It's a simple relality. Adam has actually done better in maintaining a media presence than a lot of others have. Even his gay advocacy presence keeps him out there and a bit more relevevant. |
