Great discussion today, although I haven't been around to add much to it. It's pretty clear we have loved Adam through lots of eras and we still do. This current one is a bit extreme in some ways, but I predict that a year from now we'll look back and say, "Well, we survived THAT one!" Adam is going to thrill us, entertain us, shock us, surprise us, frustrate us, and of course, disappoint us at times. I will always follow him. He has given me so much joy.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere...I'm interested to see where he's taking this. Besides, he has too much interesting stuff going on all the time, not to mention QAL, the musical etc.
He keeps me entertained.

Great discussion today, although I haven't been around to add much to it. I t's pretty clear we have loved Adam through lots of eras and we still do. I agree. Not going anyplace and I suspect Adam will change things up again. I know Oliver said once that was "their world" so I get that. But Adam is not a regular Joe, he is a star and a businessman and has many fans outside that world who have been supporting him for 15 years. Adam is part of both worlds and I'm sure he feels that push and pull sometimes. He is trying to reach his community with this era, as it is important to him. I am happy for him that he is enjoying this era. But he has many straight and female fans who love him too. We have always supported him and like some eras better than others. And we have never demanded that he show us how "gay" he is. Cause we understood that even if we are not in that world, that is part of who he is. Most of us just want to hear that fantastic voice and see his showmanship. We enjoy his charm, good looks, sexiness and thoughtfulness and his sexuality has never been an issue for me. And even tho this era is not for me, I hope to continue to buy his records when he does music I enjoy and will pay to attend his concerts in the future, when possible. And I really do hope his community supports his effort by buying his new music and not just dancing to it in the clubs. HA.

I used to read Adamtopia throughout the day, every day. I was mesmerized by his voice. I identified with him as a former kid performer and appreciated the years of work and dedication he devoted to his craft. I have been around since Idol days and his first solo tour.
The direction he is choosing for his art and personal life at best does not interest or touch me. At worst, I sometimes shudder.
I agree that he has the right to present himself and his work however he wishes. He never has to justify himself to me. I also have the right to not travel that road with him and, instead, listen to and support music and musicians that move me and make me feel happy and inspired. Sadly, that is not Adam at the present time.

I have been there for everything Adam since day 1 (except Two Fux...)...but if his "current truth" at age 40-something is releasing a song called cvnty, I will just sit this era out and hope that future projects are more appealing to me. Because nothing to date about this Afters project is appealing to me (and I fully understand that it is not meant to appeal to me..) Cunt is an awful, derogatory, anti-women word. Regardless of its urban dictionary definition or use in a small slice of the gay community, I have to side-eye Adam for this track.

I grew up in Louisiana. Some of the meanest people I knew NEVER cursed. Some of the nicest people I knew peppered their language with curse words. I learned very young to not worry about the specific word but the context and intent behind it. One of the reasons I had a lot of trouble saying "thank you" was the number of times I heard it in a tone that was more along the lines of "fuck you".
For me a specific word will never matter. It's the context and intent behind the word. Perfectly innocent words can be said in such a way as to make my skin crawl. Other times the same words are just fine.
As with any artist I believe they should be true to themselves and if I don't like it then I can pass it by. We are all free to make that choice.
