Adam is one of those people who, imo, has become a "star" without yet being a "radio star." He is a strong brand, and his management must love him because there is so much potential.
But, he does need radio if he wants opportunities in the US like awards shows performances, TV spots, RS articles, etc. And I have no doubt something on Trespassing will break-through on radio this spring.

I wonder if it is because of the holiday? Yeah I see KP got 23 so far but everyone else is at 4 or less. Of course they could all come in at the last minute. |

US radio has never been quick to jump on the bandwagon of anything new or different. Gaga broke internationally before she got big on radio here and she is not the first. U2 did not have a big radio presence until Joshua Tree which was really radio jumping on a bandwagon built through live touring, college radio (which was practically underground) and video as MTV played the shit out or their music videos and the Red Rocks concert. Live Aid where they stole the show from pretty much everyone EXCEPT Queen. US radio will drag their heels on Adam but in the end I truly believe they will give in because he will be undeniable over time. He has the media on his side and interested in him and that really is make or break. Gaga did not make headway here until she won over the media and they started praising her out there style instead of calling her a freak show. Madonna had to win over the media too in order to make progress. Adam won the media over convincingly with the way he handled the aftermath of the AMA's and they are solidly on his side. I don't think I've seen a story in the last two years that hasn't called him a superstar and the general public perception is shaped by those constant references. So yes I agree, FUCK US RADIO because in the long run I don't think they will break him. |
