LOL! Something weird going on with the adds today. Hardly an stations adding. I wonder if it is because of the holiday? I think you may be right. I forgot it was a holiday in all the excitement! We will know tomorrow. Ya, only 50% of the HAC stations reported today!Rhiannsu, good points, all of them. I do want to add that Adam also has respect of his peers too, like other artists and producers. I still believe 2012 will be a big year for him!

I don't really mean this but in light of the awesome Queen news imma say it anyway: Fuck US Radio. my thoughts exactly Jazz! the reality is Adam can have a massively successful career without U.S. radio. He gets played all over the world and if the jackwagons in this country can't recognize what a talented artist he is then fuck them. I have no worries for Adam's career because of his international audience. if he were a regular idol artist i'd be terrified for him right now but he's gonna be fine.

I'm wondering if the whole plan might be to launch him internationally first and foremost, and then assume that U.S. radio can't ignore him when every other country is going crazy for him. As people have pointed out, Gaga's success began internationally. When someone is considered too "out there" for U.S. radio, the approval of the rest of the world seems to have to come first. I personally don't consider Adam very "out there" but let's face it--his sexual orientation may be what's causing the hesitation here in the states. Sad but very possible.

Adam wants to be a Pop star here! And he wants to be big! So in order for him to fulfill his dreams, it has to happen here too!

Adam wants to be a Pop star here! And he wants to be big! So in order for him to fulfill his dreams, it has to happen here too! And I believe it WILL but I am not at all surprised that it won't be FIRST. I think he will have to reach that point of inevitability much like Gaga. They didn't play the shit out of her right off the bat and she really did get huge overseas before she really took off here. I have said from the beginning that I think that is the path that would be necessary for Adam as well. I remember a Scissor Sisters interview about the time they were releasing "Night Work" where they were asked about why they seemed to be bigger overseas than here and Jake Shears said flat out that the gay aspect was a huge detriment to getting radio play in the States and also mentioned his hope that Adam Lambert's impact was helping to change that. But it is NOT happening over night. Ferras also commented that his record label warned him that being out and open would impact his career. He said also that Adam was making an impact towards changing that but it would be a slow process. I think that it will be like a snowball rolling downhill and that more and more artists will take the chance on being open because Adam has opened the door somewhat. Another artist I saw make comments about Adam having an effect on this was Ari Gold who also felt his audience was limited to the "gay" market because of the prejudices in the industry. I think RCA knew this from the get go and Adam actually vaguely referenced it in an interview where he commented about both the record company and his management company not really knowing quite how to launch an openly gay artist and that they were all kind of feeling their way in the dark. Wish I could remember what interview it was from but it was around the time of the management change when the press was trying to get him to dish dirt on 19.

I agree that it will happen, Rhiannsu. I am optimistic that this is the album that will do it. I mean with the respect he has of the media, his peers, producers, etc. at some point, the radio PDs are going to start looking like idiots! To many of us, they already do! I hope they end up clamoring to get on the Adam train and will have kiss his a$$ to get radio visits! I also don't think this will be the only one off with Queen either. I expect to see a few, maybe even one or two in the US.

Rihannasu, I so agree with you. In particular I see the Queen news as a one way ticket out of the stranglehold of the typical post idol career ie everything dependent on PDs at US radio, begging for the "boot song" and any morning tv show that will have them - and if that doesn't work.....a complete disappearance from sight. Yes, Adam wants pop and that means radio (and I think he will get it!) but singing with Queen is somewhat equivalent to JHud's Oscar. It is an unarguable industry stamp of global approval and mega talent that no amount of Idol Or radio pettiness and jealousies can do anything about.....he simply moves out of reach. Note there is a reason the successful alums have no presence/ fans on Idol blogs.....they have escaped the clutches!
Adam's name will now be forever linked around the world with Freddie Mercury - you cannot buy that and he didn't need US radio to get it.

the song went totally negative for the first time today. I don't get it. The song was doing okay until he did the U.S. promo.... wtf is that about?
God I really hate U.S. radio right now >:(

IMHO ,the DJs that Adam talked to really appreciate his talent and like him a great deal as a person. Unfortunately they take their orders from above,LIke ClearChannel. I think the more we request the better Adam is is spite of the above. They can never say that Adam doesn't have many requests.. therefore we aren't playing him. Repeating myself.. but here goes anyway.. Every time we get down, something amazing happens.. Like QUEEN with Adam at the biggest tribute venue for Freddie. Who gets that kind of a gig.... ADAM!
To add..Adam is well on his way to being an International superstar.. no worries here. Radio play gives you publicity , Adam is his own publicity machine, par none. Selling singles is not very profitable, touring gives you money and selling your brand/merchandise gives you cash. Just imagine how many people from all over the world will go to an Adam concert ,especially after QUEEN.
