Adam signed a Hollywood artists’ call for Biden to stop supplying Israel with weapons.

This is a tough one: on one hand,we all seem to be captive here in Israel by one person, the Israeli PM, who is resisting a hostage deal, in opposition to the opinions of all the military professionals. So any pressure on him to give in and sign a deal is welcome.

On the other hand, cutting off weapons to Israel will reinforce Hamas, which will toughen its terms of the deal, and ultimately will leave Israel defenseless, to be possibly annihilated.

I’m sure President Biden knows all the subtleties, as do other politicians, given it’s their job to learn these situations well and navigate them. I’m sure Biden will do the right thing, as opposed to my own PM who, left to his own devices, will most certainly do the wrong thing. I’m just a layman here, and likely so are most of the artists who signed this declaration.

By the way, responsible journalism requires at least two sources. The casualty figures in Gaza come from one source without corroboration - the Gazan Health Department, which is controlled by Hamas. Yet most outlets quote it without disclaimer, as does this IG post. Hamas burrows itself within the civilian population, especially in schools and hospitals, leaving the Israeli army with a dilemma: either let them go, which leaves Israel at risk, or engage, which leads to civilian casualties and international criticism. Such criticism plays right into Hamas’s hands. I’m sure that the artists who signed this declaration didn’t intend to become Hamas’ mouthpieces.

I might be the only Adam fan left in Israel after his remarks following October 7, which were very painful to many. I’m sure he means well and always has the best intentions. I love him so much, I’ve even booked a flight to NY to see him in Cabaret, and I’m very excited about it. Flights are nearly twice the price they were last year, and they could easily be canceled depending on how volatile the situation is. If all goes well, I’ll see him on October 29. My hope is that he doesn’t make statements before then supporting stands that might endanger my life or the lives of my family and friends, even of he only means to make everyone's lives better.

Not getting into a political discussion, so I will not comment further but i felt I needed to say I believe, as well, that Adam is a pacifist and doesn't believe in war. Being a Jewish person it must have been very diffiuclt for him to sign this knowing the awful events that occurred. The letter is not just about not sending arms to Israel, to me, anyway, it is talking more about peace, cease fire and freeing hostages. Hamas must be crushed, but doing this cannot make the entire population of Gaza simply "collateral damage" they are also people. They need to find a way.

My sympathies to any who are involved and have lost loved ones. I also only pray for a lasting peace. Stay safe.
