scorpio - what you said makes perfect sense to me. (though I completely understand passing on Sophie as we have more than proved ourselves there). In terms of requesting, for a little while I was monitoring my Top 40 stations twitter @'s just to see what other requests they were getting. I was seeing plenty of requests for Bruno, and Katy, and Adele and Gaga. Sometimes I wondered, why on earth are people requesting a song that is gonna get played in the next 20 minutes regardless? But people were. We don't know how big a role requests play for each individual station. But they clearly play some role. We don't know how many fans are actively requesting. We know if we are individually, but in the larger fandom? Maybe 250 members browse here on an average-ish day, but 3,500 guests do. Do they request? Do they get discouraged or encouraged to request by what they read from the posts? We don't know. (Okay just a slight digression, like people have said, feelings are all valid, everyone's opinion is their own and they have all the freedom in the world to share. But sometimes I consider, what will be the effect of how I share my feelings on a larger community much of which is invisible? Might it incidentally effect others behavior? Not my responsibility of course, but maybe one consideration). I request to show interest and engagement with the station, Adam, and the song. I request to make my voice heard. I request to build karma points for Adam, whether or not my song is played that day, or the next, or never. That's why I do it. Perfectly said. That is why I do it as well.

The other day I received a response to a tweet from someone I discovered indirectly through Adam but now follow for his own sake. In the tweet he called me "Lynne," which surprised me as I only use that name here. Hmmmmm.... uhm.....That's how everyone sees your name on twitter, I just checked - you post as "lynne" followed in faint print by pflynne as your twitter name...... I would address you as lynne too. hahahaha... Well, that solves that mystery for me then. ;D

I know. Beauty products are not cheap these days. I have girls that are so into trying out all these new beauty stuff So we all know that Adam will make LOTS OF $$ on this concert with Queen. You guys want to take a guest? 1 million, 2mil lower or higher ..what?? I know i know we will never know the amount he will pocket on these festivals. My guess is at least a miilion with all his expenses paid and no band expenses for him! zero! I would guess that the Japanese festival is probably close to that but he will have to pay his band. Mys*&@^#r, I wondered about how much other performers are making for shows and found this online: According to The Smoking Gun, Rihanna made a guaranteed $410,000 bucks per show and the right to receive 80% of box office ticket receipts over $565,000.
This figure places her over acts such as Justin Bieber ($300,00 per show) and Drake ($150,00 per show). In comparison, Beyonce commands around $1.5 million or more per show on tour.
I believe these figures are gross, and lots of expenses must be paid out of these amounts. I do not think Adam is in this pay category just yet. Someday... peace&love

Cookie, I would love to read this too! I enjoy some occasional mind-numbing academic rambling, lol. (more so with Adam content of course) LOL. I thought only people who HAD to read mind-numbing academic ramblings ever did so willingly, but I'm happy to share the joy. I've started a list of who wants to see this and I'll get back to you when I have it. I kind of skipped to the end of the thread today and caught a hint of mind numbing academic drivel. I had to back track to find out what it is all about. OOOOHHH .... I hope there are charts and graphs and incomprehensible statistics. Please put me on the list and thank you.

Nonotme, the Sonisphere festival is paying Queen! They are the headliners for Saturday night, at a huge 3 day festival. At a historic venue for them and their fans. Their only UK concert for 2012! I would guess they are getting a huge fee. Out of which will come Adam's guest vocalist fee. I just did a rough guess of what that festival might gross for 3 days and without even considering merchandise, I got 37 million! Could this festival afford to pay the headliner, of each night 2 million? 3 million? I would say yes. Is Rhianna's fee for a huge festival or are you quoting her concert figures? For a concert, that sounds about right. Festivals like Sonisphere would be completely different.

I can't even begin to tell you all how amused I am to be hanging out on a board full of people who go in search of the source of mumblings about academic articles that may or may not be mind numbing and be bursting at the seems with horrifying statistics. I dare anyone to try to say that we don't know how to amuse ourselves!

Is it possible that RCA's grand scheme was to wait for the Queen announcement before giving a big push, knowing that there would be tons of free publicity associated with it? Or not... :
