Regarding the question about the Queen press helping BTIKM get airplay -- it is having no measurable effect Here are the numbers for the past 7 days vs. the prior 7 days on HAC in the US. Peak #31 Last week #31 This Week #32 ADAM LAMBERT Better Than I Know M... 19/RCA 2011 Spins TW 510 LW 501 Change +9 (This is 7 days vs. 7 days) Stations playing 44 up 2 from yesterday Average spins per station TW 8.6 LW 8.5 +0.2 TW vs. LW -- down 0.2 since yesterday On Pop radio, it is #64 this week vs. #63 last week in spin rank. LAMBERT, ADAM Better Than I Know Myself Spins this week 242 last week 193 change +49 Total Audience Impression past 7 days 0.745 (in millions) I think the numbers speak for themselves -- BTIKM is stalled or has peaked. It has enough adds to move up the charts -- particularly on HAC. The fate of this track is in the hands of radio listeners and fans. If PDs and DJs hear that their audience wants to hear BTIKM, they will play it. I talked to several PDs who added BTIKM to their playlist -- they tell me they are not getting requests. ETA: Now is when requesting BTIKM really matters. It is at a tipping point. And this is when a few fans can make a difference. But if radio won't play it in a time slot where people can hear it for the first time people won't know to request it. Where was the song played the first week it dropped? If you weren't a fan, you wouldn't know it had even happened. |

Perhaps the effect for BTIKM, from Queen news, has been a slight i-Tunes bump. His spins haven't increased, and yet, BTIKM was in the low 900s 2 days ago and now it is right around 780. Also, the video was at #45 2 days ago and now it is at #34. Yesterday and earlier today, it was higher! The music video moved up to #18 about 24 hours ago -- and they only possible cause I can find was the Queen news buzz. #45 up yo #18 is a pretty big move. ETA: Chords in BTIKM -- will change based on key but there are 5. Gm Bb F Eb F/A There are some very humorous videos about 4-chord pop songs but Mozart used 4-chord progressions. It is how you use the chords -- not how many you use.Is this kinda like "Size doesn't matter - its how one wields it that counts"??   |

First time I got through the thread all week!!!  Got to say, the line of the day (for me, for you) was this one: Tiger Lily: Rainbow Fish was a stuck-up ass of a fish!I legit cracked up!!! A few other thoughts: • Was totally depressed last night about BTIKM, which I love and couldn't wrap my brain around it's scornage on radio and I'm in agreement with the push-me/pull-you nature of radio where they want everything from us and when we try to give it, they throw it in our faces. IDGI. But I dutifully request via Media Base, twitter and text about four times a week. (My HAC is a pivotal one who has been playing once/day) Footnote: I personally know at least 20 fans in my city and I know we are all requesting the same, so I don't believe for a minute there are not enough requests, because we are only a fraction of those in SoCal. There are hundreds of others doing the same in our region, I would bet on it. • Last night, when discussing why NZ shut BTIKM down so early on someone was using it as a validation for the fact that "radio doesn't like it." And I thought, "But wasn't it No. 1 in South Africa?" (On the Top 40 Countdown, according to South Africans I know – I did not corroborate with Billboard charts.) I looked up South Africa's reach this morning and realized there are 50 million people in that country!! It's a significant market – 10 times bigger than NZ or Finland (holla! Not diminishing NZ and Finland, but SA gets no respect and it's a BIG country). Yaay!! Sonisphere peeps!! BTW, anyone worrying about radio Sophie poll ... food for thought: • Adam has been retired, he shouldn't even be competing. • They have added everyone he's beat but not him (including Ryan Starr – whoever that is) • This is his hometown Sorry, but fuck Radio Sophie. |
