How are the other Broadways shows doing? I know Cabaret is one of those "old shows" that many people may have seen years ago. And even though this version is fresh and new, they don't want to bother. This news is so disappointing. I'd love to see Cabaret finish its run, but it doesn't look good.
nightowl, it's good to be reminded that many tourists and people who live near the city do go to weekday shows. Make perfect sense, cost-wise. Cabaret isn't really a show for school kids, though. lOL I'm just hoping that, long run or not, this show will give Adam a better chance at getting more roles. It's what he really wants.

It gets confusing if the Cabaret info gets split between the 2 threads.. I'm continuing to post Cabaret info on the Cabaret thread relating to this.. I agree...maybe this conversation could be transferred to the other thread? But the reason, why I posted about Cabaret here, is, that fans, who omit the other thread to avoid spoilers, can read it. Not that anybody gets surprised, when they will miss Adam in Cabaret, because they plan to go in February instead of November.

How were the sales during Redmayne's run? Were they petering out at the end? Maybe theater goers in NY are just Cabaret-ed out? We know Adam is a big draw for his fans, but probably not so much for the wider audiences. I assume a good part of the cast is the same people from the Redmayne run. This news is so heart-breaking. Theaters can't lose money and just keep going. I wonder how the other Broadway shows are doing overall. The ticket sales for Cabaret were already slowly going down over the summer. They only went up again after the end of Redmayne‘s engagement was made public. I had heard that. Eddie has a name and when it was announced he would leave, many rushed to see his performance. Those same people are not going to go back to see this show again in less than 6 months. Unless your a real theatre afficiando I wouldn't think one would see many plays more than once unless there was a specific person you wanted to see. Adam is getting great reviews. He has proved he is a Broadway lead. Just one more feather in his cap. I am sure, should it close before he leaves, he would not take it personally. He is too accomplished and aware of how the business works.

I went on Sept 28 and will go again Dec 7. It's a trek, from northwest New Jersey. Driving in Manhattan is horrendous. Probably why my husband lobbied for attending QAL in Boston last year, rather than go to Madison Square Garden. But, that said, the show is well worth the trip. Not going to spoil anything, but the second act leaves one shook.

Loved all of Adam's talking, didn't like his choices as much. Going for diva voices and even giving the guys diva songs. I'll be controversial here but it's just so gay. We always complain that his community doesn't give him enough love because they all go for the divas and darn it, so does he. He had a cute guy that could get votes and he let him go.
