I will post this here, so that everyone can see it: Apparently Adam‘s musical is losing money every week. They have already reduced ticket prices by a lot. But they still struggle to sell the tickets. It looks mostly good on the weekend, but not on weekdays. So, if members here want to go and see it: Maybe don’t wait until next year. That could be too late. Grosses info from last week (ending October 6th) Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club - $938k gross, 86% capacity, $126 atp (Down ~$51k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $788k; Weekly Operating Cost: $974k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): (235k); Reserves Remaining: $1.6 million
Award Wins: Drama Desk (2), Tonys (1)
Broadway has a shiny new revival toy to play with in Sunset Boulevard, and Cabaret has been cast aside. These are bright red flags for this production. Honestly, if you are interesting in seeing Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, you should make it a priority. If these grosses don't improve imminently this show is done for.

www.reddit.com/r/Broadway/comments/1fz6uso/new_musical_grosses_analysis_week_ending_october_6/This is upsetting to see. I would think most people work and really don't go to a play during the week. I, myself, have tickets for a Saturday but not until November. I really don't know many people who go into the city for a weeknight show.

Sorry the play isn't doing better...people probably busy with hurricanes and other natural disasters and can't make it to Broadway. Lots of bad, bad stuff happening right now.
Well, if nothing else, I'm sure it is a great learning experience for Adam.

Crap. I was praying that it would pick up a bit by now. People are busy on weekends, and it has to be a really high profile show to draw people in. Apparently, Sunset Boulevard is "the show to see." I hope Cabaret can hold a bit longer. I feel bad for Adam, BUT, he is still getting great reviews, and that is very important for the future.

Were they petering out at the end? Maybe theater goers in NY are just Cabaret-ed out? We know Adam is a big draw for his fans, but probably not so much for the wider audiences. I assume a good part of the cast is the same people from the Redmayne run. This news is so heart-breaking. Theaters can't lose money and just keep going. I wonder how the other Broadway shows are doing overall.

They only went up again after the end of Redmayne‘s engagement was made public.

When you live in the city or are visiting as a tourist, you prefer the weekdays, because the shows are usually much cheaper. When I visited New York some time ago, I saw Mary Poppins on Broadway on a Wednesday martinee. I was quite surprised to see several school classes in the theatre. (And it had been quite a culture-shock to me, that it was fine to eat popcorn in a musical theatre!)
