www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/adamlambert/view/41284/Adam Lambert might "wear a helmet" during his Sonisphere set with Queen Adam Lambert has opened up about his forthcoming live set with Queen at Sonisphere Festival and insists he isn't afraid of the sometimes icy reception acts can be met with at rock and metal events in the UK. Speaking exclusively to the NME, the 'Whataya Want From Me' powerhouse admits he was surprised to hear that bands in the past have been 'bottled' and joked that he might wear a "helmet" while on stage to be on the safe side:
"Oh great! Well I'll be sure to wear something that protects my helmet. I wear a helmet onstage, maybe that would be a good fashion statement."He also stressed that he is in no way trying to replace the late Freddie Mercury and only wants to use his own stunning vocal abilities to emulate the stage presence and star power the 'We Will Rock You' legend possessed: @spreckles This is how Adam Lambert will protect himself at Sonisphere against pee bottles i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv109/mediawop/tumblr_lzudno9HQe1qikwt4o5_250.gif?t=1330043484

I loved that NME article because the interviewer pushed a little and asked some tough questions. Adam is going to be asked some of these same questions again and again. So I was glad that he answered them so well. I fully expect RS to to do an interview with Brian/Roger/Adam at some point, and they will be equally tough.
I am trying to put myself in the shoes of some of the diehard Freddie fans. I am a huge, huge, huge fan of REM. I adore Michael Stipe. If I ever heard that Peter Buck and Mike Mills were doing an REM concert without Michael I would be resistant (even if there was no Stipe to sing with). I think it is hard for Freddie fans to have an open mind, but he has been gone a long time. And at this point, it is more about respecting what Brian and Roger want to do. I do think this is a HUGE opportunity for Adam, and he is going to surprise a lot of people.

Those metal guys on that podcast are complete jackwagons LOL.... I really hate music snobs. I was loling at their excited girly reactions to KISS.... those are the guys who lip synced and I'm pretty sure didn't even play their instruments live on the AI8 finale (check out Paul Stanley when he falls forward while supposedly ripping on the guitar LOL). I also remember Adam's quip about Gene's "Live guitar playing" on the idoltary interview. irony is them wetting themselves over The Darkness while Justin Hawkins is wetting himself over hearing Adam sing with Queen. Someone should link them to Justin's tweet to Adam

And they were TOTALLY excited for KISS (for KISS and Faith No More). I think the only reason they were kinda meh on Queen was because of the Adam connection..they are dubious....but hopefully when he knocks it outta the park they will at least relent that he was a good choice. I mean come on Freddie was an amazing performer, but this whole like pissing on their legacy bullshit that some of these~intense music fans toss around is like...COME ON. Music is music, why so srs? I mean is it SO HARD to get up at noon, throw on your wrinkled Iron Maiden t-shirt, pour a bowl of Lucky Charms and sit all day debating the merits of underappreciated metal albums that only sold 500 copies on internet forums?? Is THAT why these ppl r so grumpy? They r just as dorky as us. Except their rage is directed at perceived outsiders and legacies and crap while our rage is directed at radio and homophobes and Adommy crays lol They sounded like a grumpy version of the guys from "Wayne's World". LOL. Since they are so impressed with KISS, maybe someone should let them know that Adam has performed with KISS already, too. ;D

I wish VHI Top 20 could look at a date stamp and not use the 24 hour clock. I can never remember what time I voted the day before..... ITA. I have to keep checking back to see if it will let me vote yet. I wait a little bit later everyday; pretty soon I'll be dragging myself out of bed at 3:00 a.m. in order to get my votes in for that day. The same thing is happening to me. Later & later every day. Started in the morning & now I can't vote til early evening! I am excited too Marie! And hoping for the same thing - top 20 baby!!! I'm having a hard time pulling myself away from the Numbers thread now that there's a bit of a positive spin on things! Didn't any of the "Metal" fans on the podcast see his performance with Queen at the EMTV Awards? And what about P.R. and the other singers who've performed with Queen? I came to them late (about 7 or 8 years ago) and I worship Freddie. But FFS it's been way over 20 years. Get over it. It sounds to me like Brian & Roger aren't getting much respect from these guys either.

The pod cast (metal hammer?) was really interesting. I think they underestimate Adam. I usually side on caution, but I really think he is going to surprise a lot of people. They did make a good point about how the band needs to be selective about the type of songs they select for the festival. I think Adam is going to surprise a lot of people. It's not a bad thing really that some are apprehensive or curious about the whole thing, imo. It's also not a bad thing that expectations are on the 'lower' side .. less pressure for Adam Like Koshka, I also do think the set list is very important; it has to fit Sonisphere, showcase Queen, and showcase Adam. I think it will be more rock. Rock Adam is sexy Adam. He does indeed have balls of steel. Although it's a beautifully surreal gig, it's also a rather tricky gig. Some people will be blown away and some might not appreciate it one bit. But I know lots will be rather curious about him. It's this curiosity and what might manifest from it that I am most eager to see.
