:)I have never liked the band KIIS, but I have to say that I loved when Adam sang Beth. Now that was some masterful interpretation. I fell in love with him a little harder when he quirked his eyebrow so delightfully and sang about playing with the boys all night.
I loved when he sang We are the Champions with Queen on that finale as well. I still watch it from time to time because from the beginning I have loved watching Brian May's body language when he is playing with Adam. It mirrors what I feel when I hear Adam sing. His body seems to strain toward Adam, his head tilted toward the sound of those notes in blissful satisfaction. He appears taken out of the moment and completely carried to another place, one that lives only in the music.
Then, when it ends, he says something in appreciation to Adam for helping take him there.
I also love watching Brian in the EMA performance. The same thing occurs; I feel his joy in the moment at how right everything feels and how easy it all is and how organic. I imagine because that feeling was taken away from him when Freddie died, he understands how rare it is and appreciates it in a different way when it happens.
I love the satisfaction he feels when Adam sings TSMGO as the show is going on; the joy of it all, the rightness of it so real that he believes in it enough to do a stadium concert to feel it again.
The camera reveals that Roger feels it, too. His eyes are wide open with pulsing adrenaline; he is so pumped up and incredulously stoked to be feeling that way.
I am not a musician, but Adam's voice makes me, a listener, feel some magic. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to be making that magic with him.
Queen had someone like that in Freddie. What a tragic loss for them. I am glad they have the opportunity to play with someone who reminds them that it can still be there.

Yup, the Top 13 opened with "So What", but no Pink. In fact, I don't think Pink has ever appeared on Idol, has she? Memory lane ("So What" starts at 2:22): Pink did tweet something about that performance to the effect of "I heard they butchered one of my songs on American Idol" or some such. Those group sings really were atrocious. I wouldn't mind one bit if they abandoned that whole concept. ITA -- It's kind of amazing that a show which is supposed to be about singing can't put together decent live group numbers. But I have to admit I enjoy this video for the lulz. The guys singing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" is particularly funny. Adam's facial expressions are priceless -- he looks like he is about to burst out laughing the entire time.

Is Toby Knapp royally confused or does he know something we don't? There are no guest performances yet on AI, are there? Joining the club of those scratching their head.
VH1: I am totally voting on VH1. It only takes two minutes - well worth it: The price of missing an opportunity for Adam because we fans don't do our part versus a couple minutes a day at risk of doing something useless, is just no contest to me. I'm on the same program as most others here...radio voting (now I can even add my own town to that - yeah!) and VH1 and the few international votes where the reminders come through regularly...all no problem. But I have so say that with Vh1 it has now become a pure duty that I am not sure I believe in anymore and if it is true that RCA is holding it back, well then it makes even less sense. But anyhow, I already did my first 20 for today.
I am sad about it because BTIKM turned out to be such a great MV, in its own message, in its creative design, in its execution and in its function in setting up the duality message for the album. Just so well done and so unique in the depth that it conveys to those who are willing to look a bit closer. Certainly deserves better than what it is getting, if RCA truly is withdrawing its support for it.
Queen and idol: I think that Brian and Roger have for the last 20 tried to find vocal talent who could do this song catalog and also perform and own a stage like Freddie. I think they quite frankly kept looking against all odds on all ends of this earth. The talent shows were just on their watch-out lists, like probably lots of other pockets of vocal talent were. But given that Adam walked into the auditions with 'Mama...", it was kind of hard to miss him. Even if Brian and Roger did not watch it, somebody probably had seen it and emailed them... <did you see that kid that did BM during the auditions, keep an eye on him!> or something along those lines. This world has become a very small place where news can travel quickly and sometimes that can be a good thing. Anyhow, it would be a great question to one day ask Brian May: How did you first hear about Adam?

Only four more days until the Leap Day Charity Water push!
I hope everyone here will donate at least $5. Donate more if you can afford it, but don't hesitate to give if $5 is all you can afford. Remember last year when someone discovered the Charity Water page for Will and Jada Smith? Their donations consisted primarily of HUGE amounts donated by their celebrity friends, yet they didn't raise as much money as Adam's fans did with many small donations. It all adds up. Even if you only feel comfortable giving one dollar, do it! I wish I could afford to offer a challenge in which I would match donations from Adamtopia. I just can't do that. But Imma offer a challenge anyway! When you make your donation, write in the comments section, " Meeting the Adamtopia Leap Day challenge!" The goal of the challenge is to see that phrase repeated over and over again down the entire page by the end of the day! We'll be able to tell at a glance the impact that Adamtopia has had. This message will be repeated each day until the push so that everyone has a chance to see it. Let's do this, Atopians!
YES, I love this small donations idea. I think many people here may feel a bit tapped out, many have given multiple times already, but almost everyone can spare $5, or if not $5, then $1, it doesn't matter, I'd love to see the donations pouring in. Atop has over 900 members. I realize that many are just occasional visitors, but if everyone who sees the challenge made a very very modest contribution to the effort, we could really move the needle. We have about 300 visits from distinct members a day. Just think how the donations could add up if every one of them took a minute to give a dollar or two or five. But more than that, we have well over 3000 visitors and lurkers here every day. I WANT TO ISSUE A LURKERS/VISITORS CHALLENGE: ~TAKE A LEAP FOR CHARITY~Please take a moment to donate, however small that donation is, to CharityWater. Maybe you're a member of another board--Great! Feel free to mention that board instead of Atop in the comments. Maybe you're here for Sauli Central (ain't we proud!). Terrific--thank the lovely SC girls in the comments! Maybe you've never participated in an online community in your life--you don't need to come out of hiding--donate anonymously, but donate! Maybe you're not a huge Adam fan but just landed here cause you're curious! Turn that curious energy to a good cause! Maybe you're a lurking troll, who finds us all hilarious! Feel free to point and laugh, but go on, give a little, too--not for Adam but for the kid who can then grab a drink because of you. We'll take 'em any way we can get 'em! ;D I'd love to issue some sort of matching challenge to our lurkers and visitors, but I want you to donate in huge numbers and my matching capability would run out real soon. So instead, on the 29th, once 25 lurkers come out of hiding enough to donate something, however small, to Adam's charitywater page I'll give $25. And if 25 more do so I'll give $25 more. Just put " Taking a LEAP for charity" into the message box. (But in my wildest fantasy, enough of the 3000 plus visitors will feel inspired to take the leap that you're numbers will far outstrip my challenge! It's just there to sweeten the pot a little!) I'll try to remind people about this challenge idea on the 29th! THANKS!!! (And of course it's not supposed to replace or compete with any other Atop leap-day challenges--just contribute to them!)

Awesome post Q3, so much background I wasn't aware of vis a vis Adam/Queen.
I kind of love Brian May to begin with, but the idea that someone with his rock pedigree and money and success would lose sleep over someone getting their feelings hurt on a reality show makes me heart him oh so much.

Well, this is great news. Top 30! Gotta say, though, I'm frustrated with KBIG in L.A. Would be great to get more spins in the #2 U.S. market. I've been texting or tweeting them every day, but I never hear BTIKM. I'm not going to give up requesting, but just wondering which is a more effective way to request: texting, tweeting or filling out the mediabase form? Or are they all equally effective? First thing to check is how they list request info on the website. If one of those methods is not listed then it probably is more questionable. If you use the methods they list on the website then at least it seems like you visited the site. Thanks. I looked on KBIG's website, but I couldn't find where their request info is. I do listen to the station online every day and I follow them on Twitter. I also tried texting, and I did get a response back from them. So, if I can't find the info, I'll just stick with texting and/or tweeting.

LOL, was just about to ask that. The Top 13 opened with "So What," but Pink wasn't there, IIRC. Yup, the Top 13 opened with "So What", but no Pink. In fact, I don't think Pink has ever appeared on Idol, has she? Memory lane ("So What" starts at 2:22): I know I watched this final and I even recorded it but I was so traumatized by the results that I have totally blocked it from my mind. Looking at these series of group numbers I have to say they were not very good. Would it have killed them to hire a choreographer?

ITA -- now is the time to vote -- BTIKM has moved up to #29 on HAC and has a positive bullet. Not the mega hit we would all love to see but it is headed in the right direction. HAC 31 31 29 ADAM LAMBERT Better Than I Know M... 19/RCA 2011 spins 589 514 75 Stations playing 50 Aver spins per station 9.1 7.9 +1.2 +1 position +41 spins +38 Bullet +0.115 AI It was played by 50 monitored HAC stations in the past 7 days (up from 42). RCA has gotten stations to add the song. But fans are the ones getting it played. Well, this is great news. Top 30! Gotta say, though, I'm frustrated with KBIG in L.A. KBIG is indeed playing BTIKM!! It went up to 42 on their playlist from #66. Has it been officially added yet? "No!" But IRL, spins are more important than adds. It had 8 spins last week, up from 4 the previous week.
