New here - my first post - mainly in response to nattygirl's post. I' m also hearing impaired, having lost most of my hearing quite suddenly a few years ago. What was most difficult for me to resolve was music. Had to work on it, but now I can attend Mozart operas and Adam concerts. Adam's beautiful voice just cuts through all the extraneous noises. Nattygirl - have a great time at Sonsiphere - I'm with you in spirit! Welcome!

What is incredible to me is that Adam has achieved all this first class coverage, industry respect and the now standard "vocal sensation" labeling, essentially without US radio....something I doubt many thought was possible. Of course he needs radio for sales etc., (and it will come with this era), but all of this he has achieved with one and a half modest hits two years ago. Where regular mortals struggle to get seen and heard even with a song on the charts Adam has become a global star through the sheer inability of the world to deny his talent. His extraordinary voice and persona have allowed him to bypass what was assumed to be the only route - one that is clearly fraught with difficulty for an openly gay man in a conservative country, and they have delivered him right into the arms of musical legends, the headlining of stadiums and the growing status of a cultural touchpoint. Not only is this fascinating to watch, but it must really piss off all the knuckleheads who hate him! Couldn't agree more!!! It is amazing to watch... resistance is futile! THANKS THANKS THANKS everyone for your lovely understanding and welcoming posts and special hugs to those who also have a similar hearing difficulty. Have guests arriving any second but want to reply later with some more thoughts about hearing protection. Oops - they're here. Ta ta for now... Cassie, your post made me cry - you hit the nail on the head girl! Will repost it later with some extra thoughts. Absolutely loved both your posts!! So glad you're back, nattygirl. So brave of you to progress past what has happened and you are braving Sonisphere!!! Whoo hoo!!! Annala!!! so glad you've joined us and have also found ways to love music again!!

Slow day, screecap from Europe promo Wow, this is gorgeous! I love what you did to make it look like a painting. With the posing and the background it kind of gives me an Edward Hopper vibe. I want to echo those who recommend watching the Prop 8 play. Really well-done and informative, but more importantly-- deeply moving. Rihannsu, a late thank you for posting the wiki link to the story of Brian May's guitar the Red Special. I love that he hand-built it with his dad and is still playing it to this day. I looked for it in the EMA performance and yup, there it is. And indeed, for the disease of Bert, most victims refuse treatment. We're smart that way Thanks, everyone!

In a way I wish Guggenhiem had included Brian May in the "It Might Get Loud" documentary. Of the three guitarists in that show, two had started out with hand built guitars. The Edge of U2 built a guitar with his older brother that they then kind of fought over and Jack White actually started with the old school blues makeshift of a board a string and a couple of nails.

Since it's (relatively!) quiet this morning - has this been posted round these parts before: I've seen Dappy's name mentioned in Adam/Queen related articles. This is what else Brian May is up to at the moment. This will debut today on the UK single chart - most probably at no 2 (and it's on Radio 1's A playlist). This is a great song. I admire Brian May for doing what he enjoys despite all the "rap is not tr00 musik!!" tripe he's getting from it.
