I would be totally on board with that, but I do wonder what size venue they might fill? From my crash course in Queen history, I remember seeing that the 2005/2006 US tour didn't do as well as hoped. The Queen documentary also went into how Queen "lost" the U.S. after the music video for I Want To Break Free came out, with all the bandmembers cross-dressing in it, and MTV banned the video in 1984. I was lurking in Queen's forum again last night.. reading all the posts from Queen & Freddie's fans, suddenly I felt like having a DejaVu from 2009. OMG.. they're so entitled... I feel like posting there and said, "ENTITLEMENT IS NOT SEXY (Adam Lambert)"..  LOL LOL I've been reading there regularly, and I've developed a lot of sympathy for them. First off, I don't think we're seeing a cross-section of all Queen fans. Most of the time there's fewer than 5 people posting. Hours go by without a new post. Compare that to here, lol. So we're talking about the most hard-core, dedicated, devoted, die-hard fans. What I learned recently is that part of what is upsetting to this group is the fact that the concert is being held at Sonisphere. Since the last concert with Freddie was at Knebworth, that place is hallowed ground. It is literally sacred to them. And some feel that Brian and Roger are not holding it to that same esteem. I think some of these fans might have been a bit more open to the whole thing if it was held elsewhere. Or maybe not. Aside from one or two particularly obnoxious people, I think the fans there are just mostly hurt and confused and angry at Roger and Brian. It's like this whole thing ripped open a wound and they are mourning Freddie/the band Queen all over again. |

It does not appear that any tickets for Sonisphere are sold out. They discontinued the Fri & Sun VIP but Saturday VIP is available along with all other single days and festival passes. I'm not sure what you saw Smokey?

Does anyone know if the Sonisphere tickets are really non transferable? I know it says no on website but a friend got me one and I'm not excited as of yet and as much as I love the UK, I hate traveling in July. If I decide not to go I wouldn't want it to go to waste. I may be in the minority on this (and I'm cool with that) but, while I really, really appreciate all that the Queen appearances are doing for Adam's cred with non fans and other musicians - as well as the exposure and $$ - the tour I am really beyond excited for is the 'Trespassing Tour.' The musical landscape is finally beginning to shift after the last few years and I'm really looking forward to seeing where Adam's new album fits in there.  Big queen fan or not....you know you want to. ;D The Trespassing Tour will still be there....and I'm so happy you have an avi now Smokeyvera. I love your brother for seeing that you needed to do something to take you away from all you're dealing with. Wishing you a great trip.  Thanks for all the great recaps today. So happy for everyone. I'm guessing based on shoshona's tweets to people wanting Cuckoo for the second single that said something like, "But you haven't heard the other choices yet." That she's letting us know it's not one of the songs the most UK people heard. My guess is NCOE. Are we placing bets? |
