Excerpt: The pair sang Tom Petty's "Free Falling," with RaeLynn's voice sounding tiny next to Stump's gut-busting vocals. Cee Lo Green, Adam Lambert and Ms. Powerhouse Christina Aguilera congratulated RaeLynn on being so "brave" to come on stage and perform. They encouraged her to keep working on it, that she had so much time to grow. But then, Shelton picked her over Stump, who would be fine "with her confidence and ability," he said.

THAT IS HILARIOUS!!! It's his own network!!! Wow, so much to catch up on an A looked INCREDIBLE as always. Regarding being "connected," in my world, it's just another dimension and it's the wave of the future. For all we know, those people were trying to find each other and had to tweet or text to realize they were right next to each other. I have a group of Adam friends here and when we get together, we all motormouth and often have several conversations going on at once and STILL there are lulls in conversation. The others in the group will say to me, "What's happening – you're designated Twitter checker to see if any news has broke in the last hour or so." And I do. Usually I just do a quick scan, but if I need to respond to something, it takes two seconds then we're back to yak, yak, yakking away. I've had many deep, meaningful conversations (and hilarious times) with many of fans here (who shall be nameless) where one or more of us were on our phones. I enjoy tweeting at concerts and believe me, I have detailed memories of all of them. I even have amazing memories of Fantasy Springs WLL, even though I was videotaping (which I don't do anymore because I hate having to stand so still. I prefer to dance, flail and tweet, in that order). To me, tweeting adds another dimension – the opportunity to share it with others – and not just the people on either side of me, but all over the world. I wouldn't do it if I felt it was impeding my experience at all. I truly do enjoy it. And if you think Adam fans are bad, you should try going out with groups of professional bloggers. They are posting, tweeting, FourSquaring, Facebooking, Pinteresting, Whirlling – you name it – all at one time. At many work events, I'm considered to be the one NOT connected.

This is really interesting I think...if it were my research interest, this picture would make a really compelling argument for the 'disconnect' between people and their utter preference for virtual communication over face-to-face....and for the fact that this is not just a 'youth' phenomenon! What does that say about us? And that pic is taken of a small homogenous group of people with a strong common interest! I don't have a cell phone--did when they first came out, years ago, but don't really have a big need for one now...not that I would say no to a gift . My question is, for those who spend a lot of their 'concert' time filming and tweeting, when you 'remember' or 'relive' the concert...or when you read your tweets back, do you remember and relive the concert, or the tweeting [complete with all the concert ambience]? I always advised students to sit in their 'usual' seats when writing an exam as we tend to recall things in a holistic experiential way...that is...when trying to recall what a professor said or a film showed, one of the most effective paths to successful recall was to picture...visualize..the learning experience....to re-see the learning point. How does that extrapolate to the experience of texting and tweeting during a concert or waiting for the concert? Also, how does the mediation of the camera impact the experience of the concert? I have often wondered how Suz526's experience of a concert differed from mine, for example....just curious...not attaching value, just interested. OK, I'm way behind as usual......but sometimes I wonder this too. Unfortunately (maybe not), media has taken over the world. If, for instance, there were no videos or pictures taken at these musicfests, then we would whine. I think of them as gladiators or pointmen, bringing the info back to the masses. I want them to enjoy the concert but I also want to see what they see and feel what they feel. Is that entitled? I don’t know I just know that I want it. Am I selfish? Maybe. But with the media capabilities now, I almost (“almost”) don’t care. It will be on way too many websites in about 5 minutes, so the picturetaker can enjoy their experiences over and over again and revel in the joy it brings to fans that may not be able to download it otherwise. Or be there. I love these people. I appreciate these people and I applaude them and I am so glad they bring this to us. Otherwise....................................................................................................? And, honey, get yourself a cell phone. Even if it's only for yourself (mine is, basically) the security of it is worth it's weight in gold. Believe me, one disaster on the road and it will pay for itself for the rest of your life. JMO

But seriously, it would be so much fun to have Adam at SXSW. EVERYONE is in town for it. Mainly it celebrates indy music, but there are plenty of A-list big name shows, too (for example, I wouldn't put it past'em to book a Queen concert.) And talk about overcoming the Idol stigma! Crossing all appendages! ETA: mika: if you bring Jack White, y'all can even get the guest room ;D. Nursing a MAJOR crush on that dude. Didja see him wink on SNL the other night? swoonage. I'm multitasking tonight = finishing a project, clicking Adam on Chicago radio, wincing at the Voice - so please forgive me dropping in/out - but I saw this post and I had to comment. MWP -- a rare OMG for this!! I have been obsessed with the song/video for Love Interruption (w/Ruby Amanfu) since it came out. And now I'm replaying my DVR'd SNL - they sounded amazing and that's not an easy venue for sound. And YES his happy smile at the end with reassuring 'we nailed it' wink to Ruby kills me - kills me. I tend to go on artist binges and I was on a Chris Cornell kick when Jack stole me back. I even rewatched all of his bits w/Stephen Colbert . Also, to add to comments of our lucky Austin residents - indeed SXSW is more like a less snooty Sundance Film Fest in spirit (with a dash of Burning Man) than a music festival. I've been five times (several yrs ago tho) - initially taken by a friend who had started a long distance relationship w/a musician and she was afraid he would turn out to be a serial killer (or worse-married). Luckily he wasn't either and I got to wander around on my own-it was heaven. So yes - to loop back around - would love to see Adam doing something special at SXSW. Given Adam's magical pheromones - he'd be adopted by the entire scene (indie, corporate - everyone in between) and I know he'd love the whole 24 hr party/spontaneity/breathing music vibe.

I have a new question for someone to ask our Adam at one of these promos: As busy as you are with your new album and all these promos, how do you find time to also appear on The Voice? ;D
