I've always liked gay clubs (like lots of women) because they usually have the best and hippest music!

Hmm, I was just about to ask about this. Probably also the reason why she has such a devoted and large gay fanbase. ...hmmm...Adam does not seem to have a gay fan base... from a few of his own comments of the "we eat our own" type...OK... IDK - in a way - disappointing (if true) after all the flailing about "Kary Perry" promo style.. I really want him to be in the mainstream and not pigeonholed.... Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't want him to seem like a niche artist. But will see what happens...

Let me say i will be disappointed too if the "only" promo DMG does is with gay media. I do not want to have him confined to the gay ghetto. But I do think that gay support is necessary for anyone aspiring to mainstream pop stardom, and Adam has to get more support from gay men than he has had in the past. (There's never been a problem with gay women.) As long as he gets on the cover of People magazine, I will not fault the media strategy. But if the only cover he gets is The Advocate, that would be a problem. Heathcliff, I find it very interesting that Adam doesn't have gay men as fans. I used to live in LA & we were always following Idol & everyone knew who Adam was. Of course all the females loved him. When FYE came out, I asked several of my gay male friends what they thought about Adam's new record, and every one of them gave me the "eye roll". EXACTLY like what Adam has talked about. They admitted that Adam was "ok" but didn't seem to support his music AT ALL. I know they were all huge fans of the female divas (Christina & Gaga & Katy) but they sure didn't show any interest in Adam. I would have expected some kind of support, especially since he was an LA "home boy". I wondered if Adam just wasn't their "type" or if they were just being jealous bitches. I would love to hear your thoughts about this.

Do gay clubs play different music from hetero clubs? I am sure there is strategy behind all this... Gay clubs play the BEST music. Always have. Like I said trend setters. Also lots of Straights actually go to Gay clubs now days.

Any play in dance clubs can help a song. I just think (but can't prove) that there are more gay dance clubs than straight dance clubs. You ladies know how hard it is to get your man to dance! Laughing right now, I loved to dance......my husband practices Judo moves on the dance floor. You got it...........our first date was dinner and dancing..........yup I married him, we no longer go dancing : He won me over with other qualities, I do miss dancing though ;D

I'm not disappointed - at ALL. I'm happy and proud that Adam is showcasing his new material to radio stations all over AND to gay-dance club circuits AND to whoever /wherever in order to "move product" (didn't he say that phrase or get asked a question with that phrase somewhere?). He's going at this from all the angles, so to speak! I hope this year, this tour, Adam won't need to ask "where are the boys?" after he thanks his "ladies" 'cuz there'll be more boys there for him, too. It's all good, IMO - ALL good! ALL GOOD!! (IMO) Bring on the happy, circling, hand-holding ring of smiley's!

People people people EVERY HUGE POP DIVA has made their careers of the back of the gay community. Cher, Madonna, yes even Britney, Gaga, Katy. One of the things that I think has hurt Adam has been the lack of acceptance by the Gay Community. They are the trendsetters and the tastemakers most of the time. Even U2 owe a lot of their initial success in the US to the Gay Community. I think they stayed away from the Gay community originally to avoid being pigeon holed as a Gay artist but now he really needs them on board. Most of the media has moved away from the openly gay tag and he has shown himself competitive in the mainstream market but he if he wants to be a really big Pop Star he does need to get the dance clubs on board and that means the Gay dance clubs as well. He has already shown that his music is not just "gay" music. Wow. Thank you. Puts everything in perspective. Helps a lot.

I think a more accurate math analogy would be multiplication rather than division ;D Any support from the LGBT community is both in addition to mainstream support and amplifies mainstream support because of the 'tastemakers and culture shapers' aspect of gay media. ETA: also lol, obviously Adam has gay male fans. I'm pretty uncomfortable when people start wading in with generalizations based on a few conversations myself...
