Katy did listening parties although I don't know the details. There was an article about it somewhere. But I know for a fact that U2 did listening parties all over the world for their last album and major print media, television and radio people DID attend and basically they couldn't agree on a single because there were about six tracks that were cited as single worthy but no one track had significantly more support. Pretty much everybody ranked the songs differently. Album debuted at number #1 in 39 countries even with a flop lead single but of course that's U2. But the point is some artist do listening parties and mainstream press and radio peeps do attend. There were Katy Perry listening parties -- a few days prior to release for fans -- here is video www.youtube.com/watch?v=58-_oSG84d0Gaga did a listening party (and attended) in France in 2011 -- also for her monsters. --- I am not sure I get the U2 connection but "No Line on the Horizon" did not debut at #1 in 30 countries because they did listening parties. It was their first album in 5 years, they promoted it prerelease on every possible TV venue from the Grammys and the Brit Awards to late night TV. And in U2 terms the sales for the album were disappointing (although I would be thrilled if Adam it 50% of their 5+ million worldwide units). --- Adam has already previewed the album for Z100. WPLJ and other major NY stations/PDs. There was a Clear Channel hub meeting in NY for the region in December and they previewed the music. Why would they come to a listening party to hear the music they have already heard? Major print media in NY who want an interview with Adam, can get an interview with Adam -- he is accessible. He is not an artist who is rarely in public. I do not know the purpose of Adam's listening party, I do not know who was there, so I do not know why anyone can be disappointed. ==== All that said -- I do not recall a major label artist doing a preview party for an album that does not have a release date before. And I cannot remember anyone previewing an album like this so far in advance of the probably release date. ==== There are a few Sirus/XM execs at this event -- is it possible that this is some kind of a Sirus/XM promo event? -- they have been huge supporters of BTIKM and they are HW in New York. It could be RCA had a promo contract with Sirus/XM and had to fulfill it. Just a thought. You made two definitive statements. Had you said "rarely" instead of "do not" I wouldn't have commented. As to U2 of course I know it didn't do all that because of listening parties, which is why I said "but that's U2". Sorry definitive statements beg correction when they are demonstrably not true.

Q3, but there was definitely an article about Katy Perry's listening party for PDs and big brass. We are not talking about listening parties for fans here. This was a swanky party, in a club with sand on the floor to mimic her California Gurls theme. There was an article about it. I remember reading it and thinking their strategy was brilliant. That's why me (and other people) got excited about the thought of a similar strategy with Adam. But of course, Adam is no KP. I've been trying to find the article, but I think it was the Rolling Stone 2010 cover article ("Sex, God, and Katy Perry") and they don't have the full text available online. It turns out it's quite hard to find.

thanks sweetie I will tried this. Hi, BB!! Hopefully this will help. I'll try to walk you through it ... Here is Adam's feed. These are his tweets: twitter.com/#!/adamlambert This is a "search" list – all the tweets that come in mentioning @adamlambert, meaning these are people who are talking about him, but want him to know they are talking about him. Or they are talking TO him: twitter.com/#!/search/%40adamlambert Here are tweets that mention him by name, but not his twitter name (so are likely talking ABOUT him, but not talking TO him – people confuse that a lot): twitter.com/#!/search/Adam%20Lambert Hope that helps!! ETA: Grrr, hold on, the second link doesn't work for some reason ... but it appears the third link shows both @replies and name mentions. Try twitter.com/#!/search/@adamlambert instead as the second link. ETA: Looks like you then have to hit the search button again to get more up to date tweets

There you go, this is not the original article we were all talking about, but it talks about the strategy: www.mtv.com/news/articles/1641555/katy-perry-previews-teenage-dream-at-beachthemed-party.jhtmlQuote: "Katy Perry will release her new album, Teenage Dream, on August 24, but she's getting an early start on creating buzz with beach-party-themed industry listening events. On Monday night, Perry brought her West Coast vibe to the East Coast, filling the Espace venue with beach balls, sand and lots of funky pop tunes." This article is dated two months before the release of her album

Thanks durberville! It work, but is the some what you call feed or thread? I was see the box but never click it.Silly me lol!! uhm....I dunno. Haha! Read Susie's post above - I guess someone's "feed" is what THEY tweet?? I always call all the tweets from the people I follow my "feed" - maybe I'm wrong? OH I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE TRIED TO HELP!! haha! Listen to Susie and ignore me. (I don't think the word "thread" applies to Twitter at all) Sorry, it's confusing. No, actually, your "feed" is all the people you follow and their tweets, but I wasn't going to try to get into that and who Adam follows (it's a little boring, lol, but we can find them if you'd like). If you're going into someone's tweets, you can say, "I've read back on your tweets ..." The only time we use "thread" is a "thread of conversation," which many Twitter platforms allow – you can read an entire conversation as long as everyone is using the Reply function.
