Here is the NZGlitterTribe at our party Saturday night! What a wonderful, amazing, beautiful group of people- who have become real-life friends thanks to the wonderful, amazing, beautiful Adam Lambert! :D   It was such a brilliant weekend - the visit to Flea fm for Liam's show was soooo much fun!!!! About 20 of us squished into a wee studio with only room to jump up & down to the music and jump we did!!!!   Will post more pics when I have the time to upload them - maybe later today (almost 7am Monday morning) and I am soooo bleary-eyed and zombie-like!!! Work will be a struggle today, but totally worth it!!! LOVED seeing the pics from the other party weekend some of you had! There is NOTHING like sharing BERTING time with peeps who feel the same way you do, who "get it" This fandom is just the most wonderful thing ever!!!  |

Thanks to smokeyvera for a great dinner and get-together on Friday night in her beautiful new home to kick off the Adam listening party here in Atlanta! And to mayumi for the wonderful all-day and night gathering on Saturday, with clever decorations and such good and plentiful(!) food. I had so much fun hanging out with everyone this weekend--a pleasure meeting the new folks who came and getting the chance to spend time with everyone else again. Thanks to babs12 and ljsmack for the neat game that helped us all get to know each other better, and to bamafan for the awesome gifts (and the funny, cutthroat game to get them), and to glamtealady for bringing a huge collection of Adam videos for us to watch, and to everyone for all the delicious dishes (will definitely try the recipe you posted, maitospf--the salad was so tasty!) and interesting conversations and other contributions. I also really enjoyed the Skype chat with Angelina (who was delightful) that cassie set up. Wish I could have stayed to see the full Queen concert and other Queen videos that JustKaren brought. It was very cool to listen to the snippets of Adam's new music with a roomful of fans all shouting out the "cuckoo" part of that song and doing the stomps and claps together on "Trespassing." I realized how amazing it will be to witness that happen with thousands of fans in concert.
Turns out that half of our partygoers are going to Sonisphere--so they'll just move the festivities to England. Yay for everyone at ATOP who's attending Knebworth (and the Moscow concert). Will be an experience of a lifetime!
I see that while we were partying there's been a new CD release date announced--woo hoo! And lots and lots of fans who've won meet and greet passes--congratulations!!

Just before I get ready for work, thought I'd share these pics too.... Vanessa (a fellow glitter triber) had this cardboard Adam made for her birthday last year, and brought him all the way to Auckland for our party! He has become known as her "stiff companion" ;D and he likes to lurk in some strange places!     Here he is hanging out with Liam McEwan!   Good times!!!  |

OT but some might be interested as it could relate to Adam and his early days in theatre. Back in my college days, I wrote an article about 99-seat theatre in Los Angeles what a treasure trove of talent it was (is) and how it works--compensation, etc. However, 30+ yrs later I have forgotten the details! Here is a link that explains the 99-seat rule for theatres in Los Angeles. www.actorsequity.org/docs/codes/99_seat_plan_06.pdfPage 11 specifically notes rules for compensation. The 99-seat plan allows equity actors to work for nothing, really. These actors do not do this for the pay; it's pretty much volunteer work. They do it to hone their craft and to get noticed, often with the hope that they or the show will get picked up and moved to a bigger venue that pays equity scale. There are so many of these theatres in Los Angeles. I've never seen a 99-seat production that wasn't stellar. Anyway, not sure if I explained that well, but the contract linked is interesting ... At least to a theatre geek.  Thanks, astimegoesby!! That's really interesting and that was certainly true of this. These are union actors who are doing a KILLER job. I don't remember hearing the term before, but sounds like it's L.A.'s version of off-Broadway? I really hope some of this cast gets recognition or picked up for national touring companies, etc. ETA: Those flat-Adam Glittertribe picks are hilarious! You guys are to funny!! |
