Carla, what you said about Adam's success overseas really makes me wonder why Adam isn't bigger in the States. It is so frustrating! They have already decided not to release another single from FYE here. I think Sleepwalker would have done well. I also love SFW and Strut, and Fever. So much of the music played on our Top 40 stations here is just crap, very hard to understand why Adam's music hasn't done better. I m not saying it hasn't done well, but just not as big as Adam's talent is. Adam IS big in the US. The bulk of his sales are US sales. Out of 1.2 million FYE albums, over 800,000 are US sales. Out of 4 million sales in singles, not quite 3 million are US sales! The perception that he is not doing well here is wrong. WWFM made BB's #10 on the Hot 100. IIHY reached #16 on the radio mediabase charts. His album was #29 for the entire year of 2010. 29!!!!! That is amazing! He had a Grammy nomination. He is on TV constantly!!! The reason another single wasn't released here is because of our radio system, not because of Adam's popularity here. It's just too expensive to promote. With the shear number of artists he has to compete with here, he is doing wonderfully! And he will be around for a very long time. This is only the beginning. ETA: Regarding releasing Sleepwalker here. I think it wasn't released here (besides the expense to promote) was because it is too HAC leaning and Adam wants to be Pop. There probably isn't another Pop leaning single on the album that could have made it big. Looking at all the reasons you listed above, I am puzzled over the perception that Adam is not "big" or doing well in the States. I think he is doing great and the Grammy nod was the icing on the cake and a great way to end a very productive and successful year for Mr. GNAFL. 8-) ETA- er-I like and appreciate RCA Ed. :-/

Love RCA Ed. He tells it like it is and doesnt cow down to oppressive fans who seem to know nothing about marketing or finance. [eyeroll] That site is notoriously slow and finicky, and I personally think that someone respectfully suggesting that an anticipated and highly promoted product should be easily accessible is perfectly reasonable. Which is exactly what indybeck did. RCAEd could have said something like "we're taking that into consideration" or other professional brush-off tactic. But I, for one, highly appreciated indybeck's request.

I guess I just want everyone to love his music like I do, and have it played on radio more. From what I hear, there are many big radio stations that don't play Adam's music, even WWFM and IIHY. Although I did hear WWFM in BFE West Texas last weekend! My KISS station in Cleveland--I have NEVER heard his songs played. Well, okay maybe I heard WWFM like twice. That's it. Our Q104 station plays him a fair amount, but KISS is never. I don't get it. I see that he is new and it takes work to get play and be established. I guess #2 will be a test. If the music is good and doesn't get play it means that either RCA is doing a shitty job of pushing his music--which I don't think is the case because they prolly had to work their asses off to get WWFM to perform as well as it did post AMA debacle--or that stations are not playing him because of teh ghey. I don't want to automatically play teh ghey card, but if with #2, Adam as an established artist who has good music that fits into the pop landscape and has been shown to be able to perform well on the charts STILL doesn't get played....then sadly I don't see any other reason why he would get shunned. I hope I am wrong but nowadays I don't put much stock in America. It's pretty fucked up right now.

This can't be disputed. I know I've said before that the stations in my area (WAEB - Allentown & Q102 - Philly) played both WWFM & IIHY regularly. Therefore I personally have little to complain about. But I also know from posts here and everywhere that there are pockets all over the country where Adam is not being played at all. Even when his songs were climbing the charts. Chicago anyone? I only hope that we he doesn't have to face the same shutout in those areas as before. My God, we've made SOME progress haven't we? Haven't we??
Posting with emotion again. A no-no. No?

Love RCA Ed. He tells it like it is and doesnt cow down to oppressive fans who seem to know nothing about marketing or finance. [eyeroll] That site is notoriously slow and finicky, and I personally think that someone respectfully suggesting that an anticipated and highly promoted product should be easily accessible is perfectly reasonable. Which is exactly what indybeck did. RCAEd could have said something like "we're taking that into consideration" or other professional brush-off tactic. But I, for one, highly appreciated indybeck's request. If I tell you how to do you job are you going to respond "I'll take that into consideration"? Doubtful. People are always telling Ed what he should do and what they expect of RCA. It's kinda sickening. It's not usually one person making a suggestion. It's usually a gang-bang going on over there. They have beat on Ed so much that he unfortunately has no patience left.

But I, for one, highly appreciated indybeck's request. I agree, HSM. Indybeck's post was very respectful (and true.) It is hard to order things on AO. Adam fans do crash sites all the time when purchasing things. Impulse buying, casual fans will NOT keep trying if it is too difficult. She was not telling Ed how to do his job. She was very careful in her wording, I could tell that myself, just by reading it. She was being "careful" because of Ed's reputation. She did not deserve Ed's response. ETA: He could have simply said, "Guys, it's all under control and planned. No need to worry." As a matter of fcat, as a professional dealing with a fanbase, he needs some stock answers like that in his arsenal. He is after all, working for Adam. He should be as professsional as the person he works for.

And to elaborate on the "no patience" thing, I think that a few people have ruined it for all. Now when someone asks a question, and it even has a hint of a demand, Ed doesn't want to hear it.
When some people don't get the response they want from Ed, they take it to Twitter and trash him. You think he doesn't get wind of that? All this comes into play. They are not isolated incidents.

Love RCA Ed. He tells it like it is and doesnt cow down to oppressive fans who seem to know nothing about marketing or finance. RCA Ed is a douche. There is cowtowing and then there is just down right disrespect and piss poor attitude. He needs to find a balance and honestly, if the Adam fans bother him THAT much he should ask to be reassigned to another artist whose fans aren't quite as interested in knowing what is going on. Let's be honest here, RCA doesn't have a great track record when it comes to promoting the Idol artists. The success that many of them have seen is from grass roots efforts by their FANS and not because RCA does a bang up job of promotion. I don't understand how someone like RCA was chosen to represent an artist like Adam, who has said more times than I can count, that he loves how passionate and involved his fans are. I think Ed needs a swift kick in the nutsack myself.
