[laughs] Oh pasta, you should SEE the number of the footprints on my ass from people telling me how to do my job!! ;D [grins evily] Nonetheless, I view that MY job is to say "thanks"...and then continue to do what I think best (with the occasional double check from various supervisors to confirm what I think is my job matches what they (and only they) think is my job). Doesn't stop me from being polite (at least electronically). What I say off line to my LLT with the door shut is a COMPLETELY different kettle of fish! IMO, RCAEd needs to do the same. well at least you made me laugh but i still find the repeated "suggestions" sickening. Everyone has different tolerance levels for different things. I have less of an issue with fans suggesting ways to help Adam become more successful (as long as they are respectful and not abusive) than I do with fans who stalk him, his family and/or his friends into their real lives in hopes of feeling personally connected.

ITA People are constantly offered suggestions on how to do their job. I think he is completely unprofessional, and certainly not the type of person who should be representing Adam. ed is a mod on a board to us, nothing more. he tells you the facts. he is not responsible for your feelings if you don't understand what he is presenting. he is not there to educate you or hold your hand. get over it. He is the mod, on Adam's Official board. He handles the PR that fans and new members see. No one said anything about holding hands. He does not need to be rude. It's PR 101!

RCAEd could have said something like "we're taking that into consideration" or other professional brush-off tactic. But I, for one, highly appreciated indybeck's request. I don't know who this dude is because I don't go to the official sites because anything "official" scares me, but yeah he should have some canned statements such as: It's not that deep! Glitter wearing monkey are working on that just as we speak! Will get right on that as soon as Tommy stops humping my leg. I know you are but what am I!!! The glambulge says "outlook not so good". I'd really like to but the glamponcho has put me into a state of deep depression. Whataya want from me? *choking....dying of laughter*I actually spit out my diet coke laughing when I got to #3!!!! Went downhill from there.....Hahahahahahaha

Ed is not a moderator on a fansite. Ed is the mouthpiece on an OFFICIAL board with OFFICIAL traffic and the gateway of potentially a great deal of money. IMO he needs to put on his big boy underwear and deal. Admittedly an armored cup may be needed in his case ;D . And yes, an arsenal of stock phrases would come in handy, even if - and especially if - everyone recognized them as stock phrases. Companies do it every day. He can too. Admittedly some of chunkymonkey's would be extra-perfect.... However, the standard " Thank you for your suggestion. We're looking into a number of factors right now. Hope you enjoy Thursday's show" will do nicely. Its polite, promises nothing, and - as a bonus - gets funnier and funnier the more often its blatently pasted into random replies! ETA: And, if he's smart, on a day he's bored (or procrastinating from something else), Ed will actually READ the suggestions, toss out 99% of them (for grins and giggles you can print them out, toss them in a metal wastebin, and toss in a match [something I've never done personally... : ]), and ACKNOWLEDGE 2-3 that are legitimately good ideas. Ironically, he probably wouldn't even have to actively do (as in fix) anything, but reprint them as AO follower issues. Would create a WHOLE lot of goodwill. J/s.

Chunkey, good for you. If Ed used a little humour (yours was hilarious, BTW) he could disarm the crazies, and perhaps earn the respect of all the fans of Adam, FOR WHOM HE WORKS !!!!! Not much danger of Ed alienating the fan core, though, WE ARE IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL and we will likely be around longer that he will . I also agree that perhaps he should be representing another artist with a different fan-base, fans not so dedicted as we are to GNAFL, the most goregeous and talented man on tis planet.

JMO but RCA has dropped the ball on so many things that it's beyond ridiculous and as someone who has followed Kelly Clarkson since the beginning I can tell you almost guarantee the things that have gone RIGHT aren't because of RCA or Ed for that matter. They are because ADAM knows what the hell HE is doing and the outcome that HE wants and how to achieve that outcome. RCA is notorious for fucking shit up. IMO Ed has no business being in charage if he doesn't have the maturity and professionalism to communicate with the fans better. As a matter of course you NEVER want to alienate your CORE market. Yes there are difficult fans but those IMO are easily dismissed and ignored. ED isn't a child and this isn't a game. This is Adam's career and while the fans certainly aren't experts they sure do seem to have some great ideas and listening to those ideas, even if they are never used, doesn't seem that difficult to me. Perhaps establishing a "suggestion" forum for the fans to vent in would be good. Alright-I'll bite. How has RCA "dropped the ball" with Adam and how have they "fucked the shit up" with Adam. I don't see it that way at all, so I would like your perspective on reaching that conclusion. Thanks.

It's basic common sense that you do NOT speak to your customers (and YES that is what we are) in a manner that is deragatory or degrading.

The thing is, I could have easily predicted RCA Ed's response from his past responses to similar posts. That doesn't make it right, just exactly what I would have expected.
But fans still try to give him well meaning I'm sure but definitely unwanted advice no matter how many times he is clear that he is not interested. What's that quote, doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
We don't know what their plans are and what their expectations are. For instance, one of the suggestions was getting rid of the irritating stuff that pops up selling the GNT DVD. I mean, we've all ordered it already, right? But as crass as it sounds, what if the fact that casual Idol viewers who go to AO to buy the charity single and it will increase the eyeballs on it for promo was a deciding factor in the green light for a charity single? What if there are also political factors behind not debuting the remix on iTunes beyond their cut of the money? What if the expectations of the sales of the charity single are not as high as people imagine and both RCA and the Trevor Project are cool with the numbers that are projected and they've made the call based on that?
I'm not saying RCA is always right or won't make mistakes, and I'm not saying RCA Ed is not rude, I'm just saying as fans we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle and it's not surprising that he reacts poorly to people acting like they do. When I worked in the tech industry, the bane of my existence was users that felt that since they knew stuff about their computer that they could tell what I was doing wrong with the intricate load balancing of a system's server farm or the rollout of brand new software product that needed to be integrated with current systems. There were a million things they didn't know.
Granted, I never told them in so many words to STFU though. Although I definitely thought it.
