She is a young actress, actually the name is Ellen Page, who played on Juno, Inception and Whip it. And she got an Oscar nomination for Juno. All three great movies. I wanted to add a pitch for EP in 'Hard Candy' - even if it's not for everyone. ETA: Of course, if Adam actually has a crush on Elaine Paige, nvm. She is also awesome, if a bit cranky. Hard Candy was the first movie I ever saw her in. Brilliant performance and a really trippy movie. |

That said, I think the first single was a major clusterfuck from the beginning. RCA is solely responsible for it not being established on radio prior to the AMA performance IMO. It was released to radio a week or two beforehand and this is something they do with almost all the idols. Kelly Clarkson's sophmore album dropped mid Nov and her single SUBG wasn't released until two weeks before that. The only way she had any airtime on radio was through Disney with her song for Princess Diaries 2 "Breakaway" I don't know anything about Kelly, but for Adam who knows what behind the scenes promo arrangements and deals were made for Adam to do TFM for 2012? Maybe because of it he just wasn't available for radio promo for FYE, and that was a calculated risk they took. It was a gamble that did not pay off in the US because the movie was perceived as a critical failure, but they had no way of knowing that at the time. It could have just as easily gone the other way. But I do think it gained him a pretty nice toehold in Asia, so it was not a complete waste. As far as I know TFM was never promoted to radio or otherwise. The video was not released for sale to itunes or to music channels for viewing that I am aware of. Besides that the movie 2012 came out around the same time as Adam's album and TFM was considered just a bonus track on FYE. TFM and Breakaway aren't the same type of soundtrack song. Disney actually paid for heavy promotion for Breakaway on radio, paid for and released a video and that song reached #1 on AC and stayed there for a record 21 weeks. TFM did establish him in the Asian market where 2012 was a much bigger success. |

I disagree. I think it's far more likely that he misspelled "Page" because "Ellen" and "Elaine" are two different names, not just a misspelling. I think he meant Ellen Page. |

Yeah, the British musical theater singer, Elaine Paige, must be in her 60s now, I think, and has been around forever. hmmmm.... could AFL have a crush on her?? ???
