3.26.12 Radio Tour Continues -- Adam in Portland

OK, just for "fun" : I tried voting EVERYWHERE FOR EVERYONE and the same thing happened every time = the more I voted for anyone, the faster their total dropped.

Awww, smokey, I wouldn't worry about any of it. I'm sorry there's been such a hullaballoo--I think it reflects general anxiety, not just your own. We all have had our moments of irrational panic. I myself, for example, spent a few days last week in a barely contained panic that I just managed to hide because I was kinda sorta convinced that the reason Chokehold sounded so awesome and so right to my ears was because it was in fact the carbon copy of one or two other famous songs that hovered just outside the edge of my memory and when the album came out everyone would figure it out and then there'd be a huge scandal about Adam's being a copycat. ;D : I think one of the problems on here for NCOE is that its a quick-beated dance song that masquerades as a ballad, and I totally understand why people don't want that. I don't, by the way, think that the "hating on Adam's songs" discussion was directed at you in particular.

But I want to state, just for the record, that while you may love every song Adam sings, I certainly don't. I always love his voice, but that doesn't make me love the song, and I think that's fine. I love many songs Adam sings, and I love watching perform pretty much all his songs, but there are some that I like more and some I like less and some I don't really like that much at all. I'm a fan, but I'm not brainwashed, and I'm my own person, and a fairly opinionated one at that, and it would be pretty remarkable for me if I loved everything he loves. Hell, I'm sure even Adam's sick of some of his songs by now.

MAINLY THOUGH, I THINK WE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT ADAM IS A BIG BOY WHO IS PRETTY DARN RESILIENT AND HAS A GREAT LIFE AND HE REALLY DOESN'T NEED US TO LOVE EVERYTHING HE DOES. I honestly have absolutely no qualms of the "what if he reads here" variety. HE'S GOLDEN, FOLKS. Of course he values and needs our support, but we give it to him and more, and we can still support him and partake of the occasional good-natured ribbing or criticism. Hell, I know with absolute certainty that Adam has a great sense of humor and proportion about that sort of thing, and welcomes criticism. In some ways, I bet, criticism makes him less uncomfortable than the over-the-top praise people understandably and sweetly spew at him at these meet-and-greets. Aleksandra pointed out earlier today that Adam favorited a tweet that was critical of his remixes--that says it all for me.

I think when as fans we get upset about that sort of thing it's really more for our own sakes than for his, because this is an important and happy-making escape for many of us, but it's good to remember that as an escape this place functions differently for different people, and for some people it's a valuable outlet for humor or sarcasm, for others it's a valuable place to angst and seek comfort, for others again its a zone for free expression, and for still others it's a place where we can squee ad absurdum to our hearts content and see and say only happy things. Obviously, Adamtopia can't be all these things for all these people all the time; but it's a lot of these things for all these people most of the time, and that's pretty darn good. Plenty good enough, if you ask me. :D

I don't have that one and I tried in 3 different browser. I even checked the page source and it can only find "from sendspace" for the title of the page and not anywhere in the body. I will try again from home on that laptop and see if that is different later.
