Take my advice and listen to the MYFM performance of BTIKM. I nearly didn't but then figured - ok I'll do one more. I'm so glad I did! It is BEAUTIFUL! One of the best of this song ever. Oh, I would have so missed ( in both meanings of the word) this if it hadn't been for you. Late night posting does have its perks. Beautiful, he, the song, the voice:))) Yeah! Wow!! Does Gotye 's song have an electronic, crazy beat, can't help but dance beat? No Does Fun. 's song have that? No. Does Adele's song have that crazy beat? No. Right now many of the hit songs are so different than the usual "hit " sound. IMO If it was that easy to find out which song would make a hit... If it was THAT easy. It's not. No one knows. And NCOE does have a crazy beat, the minute he starts singing "forget about the sunrise" the beats hit hard and builds and builds until it hits more hard. We heard so many acoustic versions of the song and probably this is the problem right now. Let's wait to see how it sounds tomorrow. Whether you like it or not, it's another story. ITA and MTE!!! btw, Gotye's video is so hypnotic. My baby loves it. He watches it with an open mouth and doesn't even blink.... |

At this point, I want whatever song has the best chance of getting CHR play. And I am guessing that this is RCA's primary goal right now. And I am trusting that they see the urgency of this.
Honestly, I don't know if this era can survive another song that does nothing on pop radio and struggles to sell 100K. Of course I want Trespassing to be released as a single. I love it. I want Chokehold to be released as well. But, right now, I am trusting that RCA knows where Adam and his songs are standing with CHR stations,and they are choosing the next single accordingly. A pattern has emerged with Adam and radio singles. Hopefully RCA has put in the work and gets it right the second time.

When I hear the snippet of NCOE, I keep thinking of 'Commander' by Kelly Rowland. She isn't singing any quicker than Adam does on NCOE, but it's definitely a dance song. My issue with NCOE when Adam sings it acoustically is that the song doesn't seem to me to go anywhere, even though he sounds beyond beautiful. Dr Luke's role in production is going to be crucial and that makes me a bit nervous. |

I do think that NCOE would be a better single choice than Trespassing (Cuckoo is definitely my 1st choice). NCOE has a more radio friendly sound to me. The beat has a driving intensity that mimicks the feeling of young love. It's so easy to settle into the groove while listening to his vocals. I really like the idea of an Adam penned song being the next single, but I cannot deny the strength of NCOE. |
