The music allows the voice to deliver message and emotion and-- important-- it builds, ebbs and flows at appropriate times. When Adam sings, "Don't be afraid of what's inside" his voice is clarion strong but the music is restrained. Restraint-- what a concept. The percussive elements are complex.. from straight disco beat (THUMP THUMP THUMP) to little rhythmic breaks with the electronic drums, and to that syncopated base and drum interplay on the bridge. I am not sure if I'm describing these variations correctly, but what struck me was the sophistication-- and yet simplicity-- of the beats. Adam's voice builds.. and builds.. and builds to a buoyant call for freedom and courage and action.. all the while reassuring his listener that he or she is not alone.. in the aftermath. When he sings, "All you feel is love.. love.." you feel HIS love.. and the joy along with him.. You WILL be all right. You can sing, come out, connect. Your world is full of light again. Even the ending-- that long disco "one day one day one day".... is a joyful injection of hope for the future-- and an infectious invitation to throw off your fears and DANCE. I think it's beautiful. I think your breakdown of it is beautiful! I'm like, "Yeah, what Aloha said!!" ME TOO!!! ;D ;D ;D

RL obligations kept me from listening to the Aftermath remix until now (I know, bad fan ). I haven't caught up on ANYTHING so if I'm repeating what others said I apologizes in advance. O.K so first thought- the beginning is a bit too slow.I really like that the vocals are front and center.I love the the part where he repeats himself (have no idea what he's saying though :-[). From 1:33 I love the beat.Wish that part would have started sooner.I'm in love with the 3:00-3:30 part.I want to have it's babies. Generally, I like the remix but I still think it's a bit slow.I also wish it had more hooks.Maybe it needs to grow on me.The style reminds me a bit of Robyn and Goldfrapp. It took me a while to warm up to Robyn. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW05tcG3Fgw&feature=relmfuwww.youtube.com/watch?v=W2OL3CdIGlg&feature=relmfuPlease don't kill me.. BTW I posted it on the main page of the popular multisexual party line I go to.Those people are pop fanatics. They discovered Gaga before she became GAGA! I wonder what they'll say.I hope they'll play it next party. They're beginning to worm up to Adam . I'm feelin' you, angelkrash, on this. The song's really slow for a pop/dance song that isn't a trance/dance song. But, what I do appreciate is that it doesn't sound like a remix to me but a whole new song. Now - my turn to say don't kill me - I think Adam's a bit unduly proud of this song, due the fact he's co-written it, plus with his friends, plus its undeniably important message. So he's tweeting like a maniac. I think the lyrics are strong, but the melody, not so much. And in this version, I can't for the life of me figure out what the melody is. Not worried about Adam's lyrical ability, but his co-writers better be able to write a hook. But will support the point of the song, and purchase it for charity. Glad people like it, and looking forward to the Idol performance. Adam's voice is killer on the remix and on the acoustic, they toned down the Alisan banshee background scream, and it's different. It's cool that he likes to mess around with his own songs and reinvent them, not only vocally, but from the ground up. Madonna does this, with her hits sounding different in concert all the time. It's what, I hope, going to give Adam longevity - his creative restlessless. p.s. Angelkrash, what's a multisexual party line? Is that what the kids are calling orgies these days? LOL

Just got home and had the chance to blast listen to Aftermath remix in the car with great speakers. It is wonderful. I normally get bored quickly with the remixes, but I have to say this Billboard guy really uses the instrumentation and electronics in service to the voice and the lyrics. He's kind of a genius. Adam starts out with what I call his "caressing" voice... velvety, friendly and intimate, as if he's focusing his attention on one person-- perhaps a child who is in pain and scared. He's saying, 'hey, I see you, I can see you've lost your way, but I'm here now. You can feel safe with me." Adam is, more than anything else, APPROACHABLE in this song. His tone and the melody are slightly upbeat, his crystal clear vocal invites you to listen to what he has to say. Aloha - I think it's beautiful the way you have described this song!

I never like Aftermath on the FYE album... I play FYE in the car , i normally skip Aftermath ... I love the lyrics ... but the beat is so sodden, and so much going on I cannot feel the emotion on Adam's voice... yes the GNT was different... but the REMIX !!!! AWESOME !!! Adam Lambert , I am loving you so much more now, and I have loved you intensely already.... how can you read your fans' hearts and minds and know how a song can be resurrected to new heights....."MY HEART IS FULL AND REALLY IN A GOOD PLACE"

Man, is Adam excited, or what? He definitely met his twota today. I'm glad the remix came out today instead of tomorrow. Can you imagine how hyped up he'd be while performing if this was all happening at the same time? This way he gets to calm down a little.

Not sure where to put this post --- daily, masterclass, Idol. Oh well, tell me to move it if it is in the wrong place.
I don't understand why I am so defensive and pissed when folks compare other singers/Idol contestants to Adam. I mean, I know that someone else succeeding will not take anything away from Adam. I know that there is not gonna be an Adam version 2.011 to replace him. I know that Adam is not just the celebrity pop star du jour. I know that he has an extraordinary voice and talent.
Just listened to the audition again, and remember first hearing it. I was kinda watching Idol for some mindless entertainment, but not paying enough attention to get too creeped out by the terrible presentations/vocals. Adam's segment started and I heard him say he had been doing theater since he was a kid. Mmm, okay, so have lots of folks. Doesn't mean he is any good. In the audition room Paula says he was in the cast of Wicked. Okay, now that is interesting. Sounds like a professional production if he was in it for a year and a half. Maybe this guy CAN sing and dance. He's got my attention. I don't have to cover my ears and look away from the TV screen.
Bohemian Rhapsody --- oh, god, no. This could be BAD! Don't go there. Then, he opens his mouth and sings "Mama" and my head literally snaps up and my body leans forward. WTF??? As he continues I think my eyes widened and my mouth fell open. DAYUMMMM!!! What a beautiful voice, so nuanced, so controlled. When Paula says "I think you are a really good singer" my inner voice responds, "Ya THINK??? That's the understatement of the year!" Yup, folks, he had me at "Mama." Couldn't wait to hear more. I knew what he just sang was not a fluke. It was the real deal.
Now, two years further down the rabbit hole, I can honestly say I haven't heard any other singer whose voice I loved as much, who could do so many things with that instrument. Setting aside the showmanship, the glam, the gorgeous, sexy looks, even the personality, I would still be entranced by the voice alone. But, to have that coupled with everything else? Truly one of a kind.
Nope, no one can compare. No one can replace that. No one is a threat. I think I get defensive and pissed because people cannot recognize that what Adam does with his voice and his presence is so beyond others out there. By comparing him to clearly lesser artists (who may be very good in their own right), they are diminishing what Adam does.
Gotta just keep repeating the mantra, "Their loss, their loss." So glad that Adam's voice, his instincts, and his generous spirit are getting so much attention today with Aftermath.
I wrote a couple of days ago that I would be visiting my parents Thursday night and wasn't sure how I could watch his Idol performance. Well, Thursday night has turned into a major family reunion, so there is no way to ignore all those loved ones who have come to see me in order to watch Adam. Sigh. But, I will be marveling with you all in spirit.
