That's great. I added one more--LITERALLY.

I've only posted here a couple of times...but I lurk daily and love reading all of your posts. What I'm loving today is the discussion of English grammar and mechanics. As a middle school English teacher, it's a daily struggle for me to instill in my kids the importance of using good grammar. My pet peeve is the double negative...THAT drives me absolutely crazy! I adore how articulate Adam is and his usage of the English language is impeccable...is there anything about him that isn't perfect? ♥ So carry on ladies...this is great! glad you de-lurked.

I am English, and my contributions to grammar day are - all right is two words; and always use 'an' in front of a word starting with a vowel. Peek means to look, as opposed to peak which is a mountain top! Lose is to misplace something and loose is sloppy or too big ! I could go and and on, but I will not !! I typo and for an all the time too!! : It drives me crazy and I think, "How did I do that??" Maybe it's just automatic for my fingers to type the d, I don't know. However, I would specify "vowel sound," not just vowel, because there are times when O has a W sound, like with ONE. Or also H is sometimes silent, like in HOUR. So you'd say, "In an hour, I'm going to by my daughter a One Direction CD."

You are going to lose your pants, if they are too loose.
Be quiet. It's really quite simple. Quit talking! Be silent. It's really very simple. Stop talking!
******************************************************
I tend to overuse commas, so I've taken to skipping them.
I never use semi-colons because I don't know the rules.
Is there a simple way to remember?
Correct my grammar.

I noticed that's how Tommy and Ashley solved the 'color' problem. Tommy who word black had on that gold chain that I've seen Saulie and Adam wear, and Ash wore the gold sparkly top. Good on you Susie for policing grammar. I'm bugged by the constant mis-use of loose and lose. One way to remember the difference is to think how many 'o's in lost--so there would be just one o in lose. ;D Loose is how our clothes fit after we've lost a few lbs. That one makes me crazy too! But my biggest pet peeves involve apostrophes. The confusion over "its" and "it's" is understandable, but still, all you have to remember is that "it's" stands for it is. If you write "the dog chased its tail," and you're not sure whether or not to use the apostrophe, try saying "it is" in place of "its." Clearly you're not saying, "The dog chased it is tail." So leave out the apostrophe! Worse is when people seem to think that any word which ends in "s" should have an apostrophe in front of the "s." "Fresh apple's for sale!" AARRRGH! Murly, isn't it's tail showing ownership. I thought all words showing ownership that ended in "s" were "'s". The man's tail, the apple's worm, the dog's tail.

Then Adam surprised the audience with an encore of "Feeling Good".****** My favorite common typo is whenever I type the letters Ad..., I type Adam without thinking. So I could be writing a memo and type...."The University Adaminstration need to adamress this situation." Then I need to correct it!!

I'd love to try that - is it something beginner level could do? The patterns are marked by stars. One star means the pattern is easy and three stars that you need to be experienced to be able to understand the pattern. This hat is marked by two stars so I believe it's not that difficult. :D But the real difficulty is that the pattern is in Finnish... My English is so bad that I'm not able to translate the pattern all by myself so I would need some help. Any of us Finns familiar with crochet?! :-/
