I don't really see that the release of the new single is a hold up. Up until a few days ago, BTIKM was still climbing on HAC. It is still holding it's own. If we don't have anything new by next week, I would consider that a hold up, but for right now I am Zen about the timing. I think there are 4 Pop stations that will add immediately due to their Spring concerts. As log as it gets 3-4 weeks on radio before Idol and the album drop, I think it is OK. Adam's fans got the first week of album sales covered and probably even week 2. After that, it's up to the casual fans and new fans to take over! Let's put it this way... I don't think that not announcing a single this week is OMGtheendoftheworld! I agree with you it could happen next week too. However, I do believe, from my experience watching radio these past couple of years, that the earlier the betterer. So the question is: why not take advantage of this and do it asap? Especially if there is no other great reason to NOT do it. Keep in mind that there's a difference between when the single gets announced, when it gets sent to radio, and its official adds date on radio. If it hasn't even been *announced* yet, it means the adds date is probably not next Tuesday (for CHR), but the Tuesday after that at the earliest. That's April 24. That's cutting it reaaaaal close to the album drop IMO. RCA is just frustrating me to no end with the slowness of their decision making on this (and I am NOT an RCA hater-I think they make good decisions and moves as well). |

Thru Chloe, if for no other reason, this station is well aware of Adam's awesomeness. They are top 40 and did not add BTIKM (much to my dismay... there are no HAC stations in Jacksonville so I may never hear it on local radio :( Hopefully the station will be on board with the next single. |

Thanks for bringing this here! I sometimes wonder when I see comments like this(and not that it is a negative comment at all), if they actually have even seen the MTVEMA performance. He totally owned and killed that shit. Maybe I am to closely attached in it all to look beyond what I perceive as epic greatness. And even if you weren't too close attached in it, it WAS epic greatness! I have to say that ALL of my daughter's friends , 26 years old, know about my Adam obsession , I'm not hiding, and even though they agree that he has a good voice they didn't think he was something really special. They are open minded though. Well , after I showed them on the big screen the EMA performance they were all standing there with their mouths open and they asked me to show them ALL of his YT vids from Idol and with each performance they were like "More ! More! Wooo!! " He REALLY belts out these vocals!! Amazing! One of a kind! "First time I see someone do justice to Queen! " 8-) That quote by Paul Rodgers or whoever shows that there are still people out there who believe Adam had no performing experience before Idol. As incredible as this is to me, I get that it's true. This is why I wish Adam's management would arrange for one of his songs to be used in a major U.S. commercial that would appear on all broadcast media. Having their music featured in commercials has ramped up the name recognition for lots of artists; people hear the song and want to know where it came from. And I suspect there are some non-fans who'd hear an Adam song, fall in love with it, and then learn "oh, that's Adam Lambert," and be inspired to seek out his other music. |

lifetraveler, all true but in the realm of radio PDs, add date means nothing! Adam had 20 adds before his adds date. As long as it is out there, for them to play, (and they like it)they can add it as soon as they want. And I think the KISS Boston, Q102, WKTU, and whatever that Springfiled station is adds will come right away. A few weeks of radio play, then the adds date, then the for sale date works. As long as it all starts happening next week.
On the other hand, FYE the album came out with basically no single presence. WWFM play and sales didn't pick up until January 2010. << Not the optimal way to do things though!
I just hope RCA doesn't want to premiere the single on Idol. That, IMO, would be a mistake. I am hoping that those Spring radio concerts will force RCA to do something soon.

I think this is another encouraging sign that radio will be on board if they like single #2. It might also be an indication that radio expects something "outside the box" from Adam. |
