Speaking of pictures, can someone tell me how to size a picture to fit my desktop? Reihmer told me a long time ago and I thought I remembered but sadly I don't. :-[

His look is so interesting because it is a bit of both. One one hand, yes, it does have content, in that you are aware that there is a lot going on, both in his brain, but also in what he emotes at the camera. But it is also open to interpretation, the eyes are not so revealing that they press a certain mood or thought onto you, but rather do they invite to guess what might be going on behind them. It's an invitation to go searching and to start interpreting his gaze. The perfect model. Very few can manage to do both, be expressive as well as be an open template. Craazy, love this post ... It's been a pet theory of mine for a while that the people who become icons have to have just that seemingly paradoxical combination of qualities that you describe ... great personal magnetism, physical beauty or striking-ness, fascinating personal story or characteristics, something that makes them both of their time yet timeless and then a certain blankness or spaciousness as well, a blank canvas aspect that allows us to project our own ideas and fantasies and desires on or through them. I think I can see this combination of quaities in Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, among others, and it may explain why it is so easy for these iconic figures to lose themselves in all the dreams people project onto them. With those two there is a sense of unfinishedness about theim that made room for others' ideas about them. Adam seems better grounded, seems almost to consciously make room for us ("it's coming from a good place" "go ahead and trespass (if you dare)") yet he is equally compelling in many of the same ways, ways that say to me that more is going on than people just liking his voice or his looks.

I believe the photographer could make a buck or two by selling a life size poster of this pic... ;D Am trying to remember who has an Adam poster on the inside of her laundry room cabinet. This would do nicely on the closet door, don't you think?
