I think it's an old People.
When I say People mag is a good "get" I am not talking about the stupid Idol articles that pop up, maybe, once a year. I am hoping for an actual article (cover if I'm dreaming). Kelly Clarkson got a very nice 2-page article last fall.

makes a hella lot of sense to me, Craazyforadam.
I do believe that the label knows they have a treasure and he's being treated very differently.

Regarding the album roll-out debate about its promotion or perceived lack thereof, I see a different aspect than the one discussed here so far. Timing and quantity is certainly one aspect of the debate, but what I see RCA doing here is to go after promoting album quality and diversity over promotion over just one specific single....and that is an interesting approach, because it targets a different market. Many albums that come out these days have one or two lead tracks that are single material and then the rest of the album falls off from there. Too many in the industry (pop especially) have done that and it has eroded album sales interest because people can now just buy the track they want and so they do. Along comes Adam and throws down an album that as many have stated goes from one superb song to the next, and they are all different. No one song from the album is representative of the whole album, Trespassing or Cuckoo are as individual songs not representative of the whole album either. When I play the snippet youtube above, I might start dancing around to Trespassing and enjoy that it is so funky but it is after I have heard 3-4 completely different tracks that is when it usually hits me. Wow, this is totally amazing. This is a string of highlights like I have not heard on a pop album that I can remember and I want to scream that out into the world. I think the struggle for RCA is now find a way to market this message in a world that is single oriented and that is not easy. I was wondering for a while why Adam dumped so many snippets out at once, instead of spreading it out over time. I think he did it because they did not want us to get hung up on one song alone, but rather wanted us to sample the whole buffet and carry that message into the world and I think we should as fans get on that band-wagon too. Let's try to think of this less like a single promotion, and compare it to Ke$ha and Co. This is not one pearl, this is a string of pearls and you don't sell a string of pearls by cutting off the individual beads, at least you don't have to. I think it is a huge risk to market this way, because obviously the pop market and especially the radio market is not organized in this way, but it totally represents the album and ultimately multifaceted Adam. Have you noticed that usually we get Examiner and other such articles over everything related to Adam and even the usual entertainment news segments chime in. They have been strangely quiet this time around and reported on this throw- down of snippets less than they do over every haircut or sighting. I believe this is because they are just stunned. It's as simple as that. They are looking for the storyline and are overwhelmed. We all, fans, fan-sponsored press (Examiner and Co.) and eventually the official entertainment news programs will need to find a message and storyline to adequately tell. What Jimmy Kimmel shows me is that Adam's management is looking for opportunities where Adam can sing a small mini-concert on TV, rather than just one song. Let's start getting creative and think about how we can help market the album and its multitude of offerings and get that message out, rather than feel hopeless because the single promotion is not lined up with some expectation or idea we may have. How does Bruce Springsteen market what he sells. U2, etc...I know this is rock and not pop, but Adam has always crossed over and I believe his core market is not limited to pop anyhow, even though this totally is a pop album. But if someone is normally not a pop music lover and wants to own a few pop albums to add to their otherwise differently oriented music collection, this is the album they would want to get. Does this make any sense to anyone? I love your take, craazy! The album is so multifaceted and musically diverse that unless he gets 5-6 singles out - there is no way to "guess" what the album is like, and certainly the two lead singles are no where close to "representing" the album. So, I am so very happy to see the promo events where several songs will be performed! Together with the Queen related promo - it MUST BE A WINNER! I wonder why is it that we know nothing about the US promo team, while Shosh is so active and visible? Any ideas?

@idol360 Kris Allen page from the new People Mag Idol special. Adam Lambert and Zorro mention! This is the large version if anyone can't read it. yfrog.com/z/h3c49akjSo Kris is in People Magazine and Adam's in Rolling Stone?? ;D I was confused & missed this because the Adam pics are from the 2009 Rolling Stone. The Fox 23 Maine video explains the People issue: Now I'm confuse too :-/ :-/. Did I miss something again?? Your archive saying that this article's from April 6, I didn't remember seeing it posted couple weeks ago in the news thread. If it did posted on the news thread I guess I missed something .. and it's not the first time I thought Kris got an article in People magazine for his second album and I remembered Nile tweeted something about interview with RS regarding Adam. {sighh.. that's what happened when you scrolled pages }

I don't think so. Thank you for the post

My thoughts are that Adam wants to specifically counter the impression that American's have of Idol contestants being "puppeted" around. He has made comments about not wanting to be "coddled" and "hand-held" so I think the invisibility of his US team is deliberate so that he is seen as being in control.

Everyone has a right to their opinion and so do I.Thank goodness for scroll.I have a great deal of trouble with some Adam fans who see gloom around every corner. A new album that is fantastic in every way,New appearances Four gigs with Queen .. The beginning of a roll out for Trespassing. Oh and BTW Adam is going to sing songs from this album for the next two or three years.So for the pessimists among you, after three days of NCYE out and many snippets to hear,there is time for Trespassing to go global and be a hit.. like a couple of years. Breathe ..take a valium or a walk around the block, but please stop the march to doom and gloom over every little thing. To paraphrase: Adam has often said don't live my life live your own lives. You can hate me for saying this you can block me,you can write me off,but I just have to get this off my chest. Our job as fans is to supportAdam,buy his music and go to concerts. It's not to manage his career,his love life or pick his new piano player. So I'm off to do all of the above,breathe,take a valium and a walk. Just saying. Yay for you!! I just stopped by for few minutes because Twitter is laughing at the gloom and doom that resides here now days. Adam's life is in such a good place, why oh why do ppl search and search till they can find something to worry or complain about. Okay, see you in another few weeks if I'm feeling strong enough to withstand the doomsday scenarios.

Craazyforadam, GREAT POST and ITA, they have always been promoting this as an album, not a few singles. I think that's why they didn't seem to be sweating the BTIKM stuff when we were freaking out. When he was doing all those interviews in January, sometimes he'd barely mention the single.
I think he WILL have standard album promo, where he will do every show that has performance slots possible, but I think you're right, they will target shows where he can sing more than one song as highest priority. I have confided my promo scheme wishlist to mys*&@^#r and we'll see how close I get, but I truly think their mission starting May 4 at the latest, will be to have him on as much TV as possible and performing and interviewing like a bause.
TV has much greater one-shot reach than radio and he is a visual performing artist. He will kill his album promo and the message will be – as it has been up until now – the ALBUM. Because I'm sooo confident in its exceptional quality, I am not even worrying about NCOE at this point. Allll gravy. (But I think NCOE is going to have a MUCH easier time of it, for sure!)
ETA: My take on why his U.S. promo is not as visible as Shosh, is it is just NOT their style. They barely had the website updated until a couple of months ago. As a boutique agency in Hollywood, it's not at all uncommon to keep a low profile, otherwise they would be bombarded with aspiring acts wanting representation. Most of the major talent agencies/management companies in Hollywood have cloaks of secrecy surrounding them.
Shoshanna is an exception because she contracts exclusively to Sony clients and is very social media savvy and knows how much to tease and when to toss out nuggets of information. She doesn't really need to worry about aspiring singers bombarding her when her client roster includes Britney, Shakira, Usher and Adam. A fledgling singer couldn't afford her anyway.
There really needs to be only one of her and since they're partners in this, I think his teams likely agree upon the entire strategy. Shosh is the front woman, who knows even though she is UK her word will be spread internationally. DMG is VERY behind the scenes. Like stealth, behind the scenes. That's how they work, which is fine, as it's their choice.

Not going to quote you again, but Craazyforadam YES! I am absolutely sure that RCA is interested in marketing the album. Probably one reason the single is being given away right now. I think the Adele success may have somehting to do with this. I am not saying Adam will have Adele's success. Hell, Adele won't even have that happen again. But I think her success has shown labels that the public WILL buy albums if they are good enough. And this album is about as good as it gets! ETA: Agree with AleksandraKv about the green parts she highlighted. There will be lots of reviewss when the entertainment sites have more than snippets.

And why a re-tread of the AMAs, but no mention that his second album is about to be released? A whole lotta "then" and no "now". #Peoplemagazinesucks Unfortunately, it is to remind peeps how bad he is. Notice what a nice pic they have of Kris and that he toured with Kieth Urban. Can't read the type of what was written, but the AMA's left a bad taste in many a mouth of mainstream press and it will haunt him until he becomes a bigger star like Carrie and Keeley, both squeeky clean. It is what it is and that is the impression they want to leave in mainstream America's mind. Whenever, I speak of Adam - responses, don't you know - oh he got arrested, oh he beat up papparazzi, oh don't forget the AMA's. Mainstream mags want to keep him as the "bad boy for mainstream America" and I think they are doing a fine job of it. Look at EW, always snark. My co-worker, he asked me one time if I think Adam's a rocker or not. So, I mentioned that Adam's perform with Queen at the EMA, he asked me who's Brian May??? And he's making fun by googling Brian May. >:( I know he knows Brian May, he likes Classic Rock. So forwarded the EMA video and he didn't give any comment. He also didn't give any comment when I emailed him the official press release of the Sonisphere concert on Queen official website with Adam's EMA picture on the front page. But when the Finland episode happened.. he made sure to ask me about it >:(
