Here's the thing, an add date tomorrow wouldn't get the single to where it really needs to be in order to drive album sales. Adam's songs don't move that fast. If they were interested in that, RCA would have released it a month ago. When Adam sang WWFM on AI the timing was pretty perfect---but that song had been out for months. Maybe RCA is hoping that by the official date NCOE will have already been picked up by a bunch of CHR stations, maybe they are waiting to get Kelly's new song out of the way, or maybe they have enough confidence in the album/song and just aren't in a hurry.
Regardless of the actual adds date, radio stations have the song, and Adam will be singing it in a lot of places coming up as the album drop rolls around. RCA must have some kind of plan---the song has been done for a while, they could have rushed it if they wanted.

If I remember correctly, they loved BTIKM too. But I am not remembering a star rating. :-/ I found RS review on the Adam#2 thread.

They are probably going to let it build on HAC. This tells me that for all our angst RCA is in no rush and is probably more focused on the long term success of the project. I think that rather than focusing on hugely inflated first week sales they are building towards a long term goal. I think that's pretty smart actually considering how many artists that have had huge first week sales have then had huge drop offs. Look at Gaga's album, even though it probably has sold well overall most of the general public saw the huge first week and then this huge drop off which the media reported on a lot. Madonna just had the same thing, huge first week and record setting second week drop. I'd much rather Adam have a decent first week and a perfectly average second week drop than to have the media banging on about a big drop off in sales. Over the last year are so there have been too many of these high debut big drop stories and I for one am not interested in seeing Adam in those ranks. I would like to had adds for next week. so that stations can add and play the song, Then have his AI impression reach the 1 m mark minimum to make an impact on single sales. I would like to have familiarity of the song when he sings it on AI. Wasn't WWFM a hit before he sang it on AI and his single sales for the performance were hugh. He won't have super sales of NCOE if no one is familiar. Ok he will have sales but probably not as high as the song would be played on a regular basis. Just reaching here because I'm truly disappointed in an adds date for a month away. Next week??? That would be a HORRIBLE decision. If RCA made next week impact week for CHR, I would believe they were throwing Adam and this era to the side! They are giving NCOE time to build on HAC and time for the promo and the radio concerts. Any station, at any time can add or spin NCOE. Stations don't have to wait for an official impact date. BTIKM had many early adds, and so will NCOE. Three weeks is NOT ENOUGH TIME for a song to do anything on radio and definitely not enough to change album sales. There is no way this song was going to be played on a regular basis in one months time- No Way! It doesn't matter what the impact date is and it doesn't matter how many adds it gets. What matters is that NCOE gets spins and that the spins increase everyday, and that big market stations spin the song, and these stations increase their rotation and spin it during peak hours!

The way RS rates with their stars is: 1 Star = poor 2 Stars = Fair 3 Stars = Good 4 Stars = Excellent 5 Stars = Classic Although they said some nice things about Adam & his voice, I felt they didn't particularly like the song ... 'formulaic pap'

The NCOE review is written by the same person who did this one-- Jody "I don't know falsetto from squat" Rosen. She (or he) obviously has a few little gaps in her knowledge of music and vocab. But I still don't care. It's a good, favorable review.

Another idea, maybe RCA is hoping that great album buzz (reviews, possible RS feature) as well as prime TV promo will drive stations to add the song. If things come out hot drop week, it will be hard for stations to ignore.
The fact that RCA is not rushing the second single out makes me think they have a lot of confidence in the album.

The problem with some picking up now and playing, they move on and then new stations pick up and move on. that's what happened with WWFM, so as a result WWFM didn't peak as high as it could have, and stayed there. This is how it goes, unless you are one of the superstars or get extremely lucky! This is what happens to good songs every week, every month, every year and many of those songs go on to become Top 10 hits. WWFM didn't turn out so bad! Stations played that song for months after it went recurrent. Currently, WWFM is getting more spins than BTIKM and many of those spins are on the big market Pop stations.

also keep in mind we're looking for longevity of album sales, not a quick shot and then quicker drop.
Adam's promo the week of release will be enough to carry first week sales and likely second week too. By then radio hopefully will be impacting sales to carry it further.
