Funny how references to Adam and Johnny never seem to mention how very hard they have both worked to get where they are today. Both chose very difficult professions for ANYONE to excel in and both have somehow managed to do so despite all odds. EVERYONE should embrace their work ethic.

I'm sat here with my girly white hair and nail polish crying that Mr. article writer thinks I'm a bad gay Oh wait... ;D I hate people like that who think they can speak for everyone. Time to send him a tweet politely voicing my disapproval

Great dialogue going on about gay guys and ADAM. I think his AMA performance and his first album cover hurt him with fellow gays. They ran for the hills & didn't want to associated with Adam. Now that he has changed his image and is talking to them directly about their own prejudice against diversity in their community,I think there will be a big shift towards acceptance of Adam and his incredible talent. The truth always wins out and Adam doesn't shy away from bold courageous dialogue.Just love the man! I definitely agree. Being a gay man myself, and being a fan of Adam's on Idol, I was a bit disappointed in how he presented himself at first. Very flamboyant, etc. But then I kinda had to slap myself. As a community, we express a desire for acceptance, but then we show our own prejudice within the community. It's hypocrisy, unfortunately. But I think things may change with this dialogue and Adam's new image.

The bottom line right here? So what if some people see Adam as being a 'screaming queen'? Who knows what tongue-in-cheek categories he lumps himself from time to time, if only in jest. Being a 'screaming queen' (whatever that stereotype implies, someone flamboyant, emotionally expressive, out and open perhaps?) isn't different, bad, or lesser in any way.

There is nothing wrong with being an alpha type personality. It means that person is strong, assertive, charismatic and most of all, a leader. One does not have to be a bully or aggressive in order to be alpha. Both men and women can be alpha personalities.
Adam IS alpha. He is also in touch with his feminine. we have all seen these extremes of Adam and everything in between-- the power and the camp and the subtleties of his personality.
I understood that article as saying both the Adams and the Weirs of the world have their place in the spectrum of the community. Not that they are exactly alike- but that they are both outside the definition of mainstream.
