I'm hoping Brian just misspoke, but "love him or hate him"? Why does anyone have to hate him? He's a sweetheart. I don't get that. Maybe Brian had been reading the Queen board. There are a lot of Freddie diehards on there who claim to hate Adam. Yeah, irritating... but that's how the real world is.... and I think Freddie received a lot of ugly comments during his time.... they just do not read about it as the internet was not as accessible then... today... immediate feedback can be good for your career at the same time.. it can also be damaging to a person's self esteem ... if he lacks considerable intestinal fortitude... |

Did that Queen interview seem awkward to anybody else or is it just me? Closed arms, forced smiles (Brian May and Martel) but Roger seemed really enthused. They both lit up when talking about Adam though! Watched it again. Maybe they were just tired? I think the tribute band idea was Roger's and it took some time for Brian to get on board with it. I can't remember which interview it was but I think Roger/Brian themselves admitted this. |

Biebs is a dreamboat and I like his hair  I mean uh... Bert! IA, IA Extremely unpopular opinion coming... I think the graphic design on the beibs cover, though simple, looks a tiny bit higher-end than adam's....runs from the thread .....runs back for a minute to say I prefer the Adam side view cover with the popped collar, and the text on the side, did we ever for sure figure out if that was the US regular version CD cover? Rabbit, i'm sorry, but while justin has turned into quite the good looking young man, I completely disagree about the design. It's strikingly amateurish IMO. No need to run though, bb. Art is subjective and your opinion is just as valid as mine or anyone else's. |

I went over to read a bit after the Queen Tribute Band performance  and was shocked to see that they seem to prefer the Freddie impersonator over Adam. Way hasher towards Adam. I guess the impersonator isn't threatening to Freddie's legacy. (I thought he sucked...I might have mentioned that in another thread  ) Whatever. : I am not at all surprised, TBO. We are talking about a TRIBUTE band here. Paying homage to the late great Freddie by trying to faithfully recreate his music and his sound. No matter how good Mark is, he cannot outdo Freddie being Freddie. He is no threat to his legacy or his image. But, you heard what Brian said. They are actually going to do something new and different with the music because of what Adam can do with his voice. That means they are not visiting the Freddie shrine, they are moving on to something new and exciting for them. Horror of horrors, might they even contemplate recording some NEW music with Adam singing lead? If Queen does something new and exciting on stage or in the studio how will Freddie's reputation fare? Might some people say that Queen sounds better than ever (implying better than with Freddie)? Might some people marvel at what Adam does with the old and the new, with his powerful, rangy, technically superior --- oops, I mean proficient voice? Might there be a shout of "The king is dead! Long live the king!"? Adam and Queen are tampering with history here. Of course there is going to be resistance. Add to this, Adam already has a reputation for "ruining" other people's songs. As in, after he does a version of Mad World, or WLL, or Born to be Wild, people say they actually PREFER it to the original, and don't want to hear anyone else attempt a version of a song Adam has sung. What if that phenomenon is repeated with Freddie's music? This cannot be allowed to happen. I think to some Freddie fans what Queen and Adam plan to do is the equivalent to desecrating and vandalizing Freddie's grave. Too bad they have this perspective. Queenbert is going to be a fantabulous concert experience. They will be so busy defending Freddie's legacy and trashing Adam, they will miss all the goodies. |

One of the things I like about Broken English is that when his voice soars in the chorus I really feel that "ping" in it. He is SO GOOD at that ping. Its like a pealing bell, its like a newly discovered crystal, its as mysterious and unearthly as the North Pole, and he takes me with him. Yeah!  |
