I'm serious....really! I'm a fan. I have known for a long time that Adam is being held back, that radio is against him. I tried to pretend that it wasn't true, but I can't anymore. rihannsu: My apologies if it came off like I wasn't agreeing with you, because ITA with you 100%! No More! No More! I think this is my favorite post of yours evah! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Because it frees me to say I SO fucking agree. Btw - someone (not sure if it was Q3?) predicted that with NCOE as the second single radio would pretty much be on board and not have fans jumping through hoops with all the voting shenanigans to get one freakin' spin. Sorry but I don't see that happening - yet. We're back to clicking those green thumbs-up again & again. Thank you for liking my post! Your post is my favorite post EVAH too!!!!! Amen sista! Why in the world they went with some Bruno throw off is beyond me when they had songs like Cuckoo available! THAT would have flown straight to the top! Anyone who heard that song at JKL knew that was a hit in the making! Plus, think of all the money Adam is missing out on! Even Broken English! After hearing the whole song, I'm convinced that could be another SLY! Why won't the label trust Adam with his own songs? >:( I will do my part, click the thumbs and request until my fingers bleed, but I would much rather be doing it for one of Adam's songs!

I still think it's an Idol problem. Radio does not want to play people off Idol unless you are Kelly or Carrie. I think radio is tired of feeling "pressured" to play these people off reality singing shows. Idol is not considered "cool" and radio thinks the fans are all 50 yr. old women. Nobody from Idol is having any radio luck right now (obv. not talking about Kelly or Carrie).
On the positive side, if anyone has a chance to break-through it is Adam. He and the label have done absolutely everything they can to cater to radio----station visits, putting out the "perfect Bruno Mars pop song."
I still have a lot of hope for the single, but RCA better be ready to push things in a couple weeks.

EUROPE is very open and accepting. USA is CONSERVATIVE. Gay is believed to be a sin by many.oops I said the group One Direction...sorry it The Wanted...soory for the confusion. The point is that BTIKM was not successfull in Europe nor in New Zealand and Canada and Australia, if you put the first week sale in finland aside, because we can assume it was because of his big fanbase there. Sony Germany does not even call it the lead single anymore. In their last newsletter, they called NCOE the lead single and BTIKM was "only" the titletrack for an German movie and BTIKM peaked somewhere between #60-80 or so ??? on the German single chart. Thats not what I call successful. Don't know anything about international but in the US sales of BTIKM were not out of line with the level of airplay the song got. We don't have a true test of CHR because the song was not spun enough ANYWHERE in CHR to say the audience was rejecting it. HAC does not drive sales at the same rate that CHR does and he never got high enough AI on HAC to judge whether sales were lagging or not. Case in point. Orianthi's song "According to You" had huge airplay and lackluster sales so you can make the case that the song was not connecting to the audience. BTIKM did not get enough airplay to make a CLEAR case that the song did not connect. Both the Ellen TV performance and the Video release showed significant sales increases and during the time the video was being shown on Jump start every day you could see the sales boost when the song aired. Since the voting limit was established on VH1 the song was limited to whatever other criteria VH1 uses and since they don't reveal how they make their choices we can't really draw any conclusions based on the countdown performance. If radio is supposedly only vaguely interested in NCOE and that is the song they were most interested in then why would RCA put so much effort in to radio promo? If this is the case and RCA is still willing to put money behind Adam, which is what appears to be the case then obviously RCA is confident enough in Adam to continue regardless of radio. So fine with me. Maybe RCA feels that Adam will win people over with the live performances at those radio gigs regardless of his position on the charts themselves. Maybe they care more about access to those more diverse radio live audiences than they do about the actual airwaves. At this point I have no idea, but there is no indication anywhere that RCA is disappointed in Adam. They may very well be disappointed in radio's response but they seem to have faith in Adam himself as do I.

Just curious, didn't it take Kelly Clarkson a long time to be played on radio?

I usually read this thread every day but don't post in it because I'm too afraid of being taken to task. But I am so astonished by your transformation, tigerlily, that I just have to say something. Is that really you? Did the Dark Tigerlily kick out the window last night and embrace the Light Tigerlily and now you are one? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I don't know anything about radio but what I have learned reading this site. Most of the artists I like don't get played on the radio so I never paid much attention to it. Most of what people predict on this site doesn't "come true" so I am not sure what if anything any of us have learned that is useful. I have tried to embrace NCOE since it became clear it was the horse this album is going to ride in on. It's funny, the song is a lot like IIHY, which I loved ... but it just pales beside so many of the other songs on the album, that I can't fully embrace it no matter how much I try. I sincerely hope there is a plan as Q3 says and the song is a success. I suspect that Adam's path will have to be unorthodox, and that he will have to go in the back door the way that Gaga did. And, it is possible we may be forced to accept the possibility that Adam will never suit the singles market. If that happens, then so be it. There are wildly successful artists that never have radio hits. I believe that Adam will not require a single for this album to succeed, maybe even explode. His live act is evolving into one of the best in the business and he is getting great media hype. Let's go, Trespassing!

tigerlilly, Yikes! Your post kind of sent me into a mild depression, since you had a really good feeling about NCOE's chances of success on CHR. I wanted one of Adam's song to be chosen but am working my fingers to the bone promoting the hell of out NCOE since it appeared to be favored by the stations and I truly believe Adam wants radio play badly. I hope next week more CHR stations jump onboard.

Just curious, didn't it take Kelly Clarkson a long time to be played on radio? Nope. It was automatic. The PDs were allover that crappy MKIA song just like the country stations are now adding that terrible countrified version. Adam puts out songs like BTIKM and NCOE with soaring, one of a kind vocals and that damn hee haw version of MKIA already has more adds than NCOE! >:( >:( Anyone with ears knows that MKIA is and was a joke song just thrown out there before stronger (which was overhyped and overplayed) and those damn male PDs jumped all over it like it was a six pack of BUd light! UGH! I can't take radio anymore!

To those who think Adam being gay is the problem: How do you explain the lack of success of BTIKM in countries, that are much more open than the US? ETA: Or that CHR radio ignored Ushers first single? The issue here is definitely not the gayness. I don't know anything about Usher. I haven't really followed him, most of his music is trash. Other countries usually follow what the US does. The biased homophobic US Pd's won't play Adam's music which means BATIK didn't do well on CHE in the states. Other countries look to what is going on in over here with US artists and follow it. The other countries are a reflection of what is happening here. Adam should just go and spend all his promo dollars in Canada and Europe. Make those places his home base. Like I said earlier, pull a Gaga. She did it, he can too. Adam will be triumphant, but it won't be due to the homophobic US. Yes I agree, US has an big influence, but there are many artists, that have hits in the rest of the world and than in the US. For example Gotye. Or Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams, big stars in the rest of the world but nor in the US. It happens and BTIKM could have successfull outside the US, too, but it did not happen. As far as I know, his first single from Usher's new album has pretty much flopped, probably because it did not fit CHR and now he has a new single, which got a lot of adds yesterday. And he is an established artist. I choose to believe that the same happened to BTIKM, it just didn't fit. I don't say, there is not any bias against Adam, but it hasn't have to be homophobia, it could be the Idol connnection or whatever.

It won't let me embed, but speaking of people who succeeded without big radio hits ... here is a song I want to dedicate to the radio program directors out there. Terrific lyrics that say so much. www.tagtele.com/videos/voir/53510OK, going back to just lurking now and reading what you all have to say about numbers. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Still have confidence in NCOE, although it clearly is going to take longer than I was expecting.
Honestly, Adam needs a hot collaboration. He needs someone with MAJOR radio cred to rap on his song. There, I said it, lol. What Adam is lacking is the "cool" factor. JLo and Enrique's careers were saved by getting Pitt Bull on their singles. It probably would reek of selling-out, but I don't care anymore, lol. He needs someone with cred to open the door.
One thing I don't believe is that homophobia is what is holding Adam back. He lost the "coolness and cred" thanks to Idol (of course, he gained a lot, too---double-edged sword)
