I know people who throw kale into soup (for the nutritional value). In the soup you can't taste how awful it really is to eat. That is all I know about it other than those smoothies. Kale can be used in so many different ways. I make a potato and kale soup, so easy and delicious. Also as a salad, cut up with some olive oil and lemon, yum. Think of kale like spinach, really not much different. Although never tried it in a smoothie. |

Yes, I revised my post to include amounts.. 1 mango (can be frozen), 1 banana, 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, 1/4 tsp Ceylon cinnamon, 1 cup water, and about 1/2 bunch dino kale (leaves taken off stem) or more if it's small.. then blend. It tastes good slightly chilled, and the frozen blueberries chills it to just the right temp for me. I keep the ratio 60% fruit to 40% greens.. then you can play with the different amounts of the different fruits. Thanks for the recipe. I'll have to try Bamafan's recipe too. I'm going to have to GET DOWN ;D and start doing some serious juicing!! ETA: I see your post above mine Juniemoon to eat it like a vegetable....I like sauteed spinach....and putting it in a soup sounds good too. A healthy soup and you can't taste the kale! (Are you sure you can't taste the kale?! Just kidding!  I thought Q3 said one time that kale was on topic and was the official vegetable of Adamtopia or something like that? Kale actually tastes quite good, it does not have a strong flavor at least not when cooked. My rabbit likes greens that have a bitter, peppery taste when raw and kale does. Irish1139, aren't you the one who likes Adam's armpits? I have a mug with a good armpit shot on it that I love for my chai latte. |

You're going to love your vitamix! I had mine in the box for 2 weeks before I started using it, and now I use it several times a day. If you want recipes using Vitamix, go to youtube.com and put blenditandmendit in the search.. she makes her smoothies and videotapes them, posting on youtube and has over 200 vids. Check out her website: www.blenditandmendit.comETA This isn't juicing because juicing extracts the pulp, whereas blending with Vitamix retains the fiber. And I really need my fiber! To bring it back to Adam.. he juices his kale. To anyone who Adam has inspired to start juicing (or started before Adam's health kick): Is a Vitamix worth what it costs, or would I be just as happy with a regular juicer? I know the Vitamix is top of the line, but $400+ is a lot of money to me. Would really like some opinions on this. Getting a Vitamix was the best investment for my health. I balked at the price for a long time, but it took a health issue to see it as an investment.. cheaper in the long run than meds. It made alot of sense to me.. I wasn't getting enough greens in my diet, and really needed the fiber. Juicers give you the juice without the fiber, but with the Vitamix, you get everything you put in, including the fiber. When I was debating back and forth about buying it, I broke it down into the cost per day. If I just used it for an entire year, that would be $33 per month (based on the cost of the Vitamix at $400), and broken down to a daily cost, it was only a little over $1 per day.. much more than most people spend on a cup of coffee. It has a 7 year warranty, and if I use it more than a year which is highly likely, then the costs go down substantially. I've been using it non-stop now for over 5 months and still love it! My intense sweet tooth for desserts, and coffee cravings are totally gone, and been replaced by craving for fruits and greens.. who woulda thunk?! I also researched the best of the high powered blenders, and Vitamix came in at the top which means it's made well and will last. If you have more questions, feel free to PM me. I am surprised about Jordin Sparks numbers too. gzkey-WELCOME BACK!  Jordin Sparks has had quite a success in the U.K. as well as Australia, however, back in the U.S. she's perceived total differently; I recall some music journalist once describing her career as "has never quite taken off", and her personality "bland as paper". I know of her only because she's from Phoenix where I live, and the local radio would pimp her events and gossip about her little romance with Jason Deluro. She seems like a sweet girl with an obviously well trained voice, and she does have lots of teen girl fans here and overseas. |
