Cassie, wonderful post, as usual.
You absolutely have to find the way to quantify brilliant and insightful, PLEASE! Can't you give those students extra points for brilliance?
In the name of justice, in the name of Adam, a brilliant bad speller!!!

I adore him for being honest and saying what he really thinks instead of pleasing others. He's keeping it real. That's why I respect him. 8-) Oh this! i want to cheer this. Cheers from me too! Even if I didn't agree with Adam, I'd respect his right to state his opinion. I have to admit, I am sick of the idea that "you have to give everyone equal praise so no one feels bad," you can't let anyone stand out, and everyone who shows up gets a trophy. No matter when this trend started, it's time for it to end. People who display true talent and skill deserve the most recognition and rewards; for everyone else, encouragement to keep at it and "thanks for participating" should be reward enough. Honestly, I think this "everyone deserves to win" trend that seems to have taken over our culture is partly responsible for Adam not yet reaching the mega-success he deserves. Seems like the music industry and fans have become so used to accepting mediocre artistry as the norm that they don't know what to do when someone who's in a different league comes on to the scene.

Adam mention www.mtv.com/news/articles/1684401/american-idol-joshua-ledet.jhtmlIs Joshua Ledet The Best 'American Idol' Singer Of All Time? 'He's really good and probably the best singer of the last three or four seasons,' one 'Idol' expert tells MTV News. Just about every season of "American Idol" seems to have at least one: a singer whose talent is so impressive and complete that their weekly performances come off as effortless. Whether it's winners like Ruben Studdard, Fantasia or Carrie Underwood, or runners-up like Adam Lambert, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson or Chris Daughtry, these finalists make it seem easy. So, is Josh one of the best "Idol" singers of all time? Or just one of the best singer ever, period? We convened a panel of "Idol" experts and asked them to weigh in. "Idol" blogger MJ Santilli said it is undeniable that Josh is a gifted singer, but she begged to differ with Tyler's claim that Ledet is one of the top "Idol" contenders. "Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard are, arguably, better singers," she said. "When Joshua is excited, he has the tendency to push his vocals to the breaking point. He's had missteps along the way -- his 'gospel' rendition of Billy Joel's 'She's Got A Way' was a hot mess of over-singing." more... OMG!!!!! I can't believe I'm seeing this in print! Does someone have a fainting gif handy? To add to the above quote from Randy, Jlo said Joshua was one of the best singers she had heard in the last fifty years!

I think 100k for opening week for Adam (Pulse prediction) is on the optimistic side but hey, I'll take it. This was not a "Pulse prediction". It is a post made by an anonymous poster on the Pulse Music Forum. The poster claims to have "inside information". It appears to be an early market forecast from a trade source. We will get real forecasts next week, on Tuesday. ETA: I will be happy with anything north of 70K and a top three chart position. But I want > 100K and #1. BUT you know what the Stones sang --"You can't always get what you want." Yes, of course it's just a random post. I don't think my post in any way implied this was an official forecast. And the guess I went on to make was just that: an educated guess based on following the charts. That is why I put so many caveats to it, because nobody knows at this point. But we can all make educated guesses. ETA: Just to clarify, "Pulse prediction" just means a prediction made by a poster on Pulse, a music forum. Nothing more nothing less.

100K!!!!!!!!!! I'll take it!!!!!!!!!! I'll admit that I don't keep up with numbers. Have album sales dropped that much in the last 2 years? FYE had 200,000 on opening week, correct? Why are we expecting first week sales so much lower? Yes, FYE had 200,000 on opening week, but: 1) Adam was coming off of Top 2 on Idol at that point, and was on the heels of a hot Idol tour 2) he not only had been on Idol, but had been one of the hottest things on the Idol stage ever and had AMAZING buzz in pop culture 3) album sales have dropped some, but mostly reasons 1 and 2.

I never thought of this -- too funny. I'm not great at phonetics but, I guess, we North Americans say his name: Add - um. How is his name spelled in the Finnish newspapers? Just curious -- the same or different? The same of course. We don't change the way people's names are spelled. And it's not difficult to say Adam (though I do almost always say his name the finnish way because it's so much more simple) but Lambert is more difficult... And when you say his whole name it sounds pretty silly - I have to say it like with really low voice. And if I try to say his last name in the american way it sounds like I'm just mumbling something... "Adam lambjhrit." This is just my opinion but his name doesn't sound "cool" because it's so difficult to say. LOL I wouldn't even know where to begin to pronounce the "jhrit" part of Lambjhrit.

100K!!!!!!!!!! I'll take it!!!!!!!!!! I'll admit that I don't keep up with numbers. Have album sales dropped that much in the last 2 years? FYE had 200,000 on opening week, correct? Why are we expecting first week sales so much lower? Three reasons I expect Trespassing to open lower than FYE --- and 100K would be great!! 1. FYE came out right after Idol and an arena tour. It is impossible to replicate that kind of promotion. 2. Idol alums #2 albums typically decline significantly after the debut. The only exception is a fluke -- Kelly's first album came out before Idol was massive. The numbers: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Idol_alumni_album_salesAnd the drop in the first first week is dramatic. 3. The presale numbers are not close to FYE. He was in the Top 10 on Amazon best seller list for weeks -- now he is at #50. BUT it is not how an album starts it is how it finishes ---- Look at Kelly's latest and Adele's sales. Or Bruno Mars -- it is sustaining sales over time that leads to big albums. IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS THIS IN DETAIL, PLEASE POST IN NUMBERS THREAD. THANKS!
