Wow, Tatum, thanks for posting those pics! So gorgeous, damn! I love the smoky, exotic-looking eye makeup in combo with the sleek black understated outfit. What was that about Adam going for a clean-cut (minimal makeup) look again? My take on the Perez interview where Adam talks about over-compensating-- maybe he means that he wanted so much to go in the opposite direction from what was "expected" from an American Idol debut album, that he went just a bit OTT (in HIS opinion, certainly not mine). Certainly FYE was eclectic and stylistically diverse. Add to that the cover pic and I think Adam's intention was to say, I am NOT what you might expect. That being said, I think Adam is doing what any artist does. Evaluates past work, figures out what worked and what didn't, what feels right (for him) and what doesn't. This is the way to move forward into the next project. I don't think he "regrets" anything, rather he is looking back with the benefit of experience and time, and seeing things with new perspective. For me, this speaks to his insight and to his commitment to the artistic process. He wants to learn and grow. This is how it's done.

In the "backing away from Glam/Glitter" statement - Are all the fans with "Glam" or "Glitter" in their names going to change to a more leathery, authentic, honest name? J/K as I'm sure this is a temporary switch for him. Glam will be back! Probably sooner rather than later. When he told Perez Hilton that he may have "overcompensated" on the album, what do you think he meant? His singing? The song choices? The production? And finally - Do you think he's writing Adam2 as we speak write? Will we hear anything when he works with a big name writer/producer? Coming off sounding like an entitled fan I KNOW but I wonder if he's done anything beyond the couple of days with Ryan Tedder. "Others" have tweeted about being in the studio writing & recording and hinted about a single before Idol ends. Just putting it out there for opinions. If I'm being too pushy tell me to STFU. On the "overcompensation", I think it kind of sounded like he regretted an excess of "glam", but don't know if he meant the visuals or the music (I remember it kind of sounding like he meant the visuals...) and really, I have no idea what he meant! Would love some other insight into that, as it's part of what sounded like the "regret" that bothered me. (ok, that sentence seriously needs editing, but I'm just not up to that now, sorry!) I HOPE Adam is hard at work on the album, but yeah, it's his life and his career, and he'll do it in his own way and time, I guess. Would love to hear about more producers/collaborators. I posted a rambling question last night about whether he needs to have mainstream producers like Tedder and Max Martin to create an album with smash potential, or whether he can afford to allow his creative instincts free reign and do something more unconventional. And maybe those two things are not mutually exclusive. Some names that have been mentioned (in various contexts) that I find potentially interesting are people like Nikka Costa and Sia. Anyway, I don't think curiosity about the album is entitlement. We're allowed to speculate! And I have no idea.
