I'm posting this here because I know a couple of the commenters go here. To those leaving comments on The Village Voice article saying "Why does it matter if he's gay?" Firstly, do you even know what The Village Voice is? Secondly, that 5-page article off the back of the release of his album is major promo in NYC. Please stop telling publications with large gay readerships that it doesn't matter if Adam is gay. It DOES matter to those of us in the gay community. A huge amount as it happens. To have an out mainstream artist like him is incredibly important and to have a publication like the Village Voice on side is a major coup. Those comments you people leave places are insulting beyond belief to both us and to Adam. I imagine this will be the last comment I leave before I get banned for posting this but hopefully some of you will think before you post in future. I realize this does not apply to everyone here by all means by the way but there are people here are repeat offenders on this front. Everyone's opinions are appreciated and respected here. Thanks for giving your perspective on this.

thanks for this and I'm pretty sure you won't get banned. I have no clue what the Village Voice is. ??? Please inform us? thanks! It's a major arts & culture magazine in NYC - probably the biggest outside the NYT. It's has huge readership (including a massive gay readership) and a great deal of credibility. It was founded by Norman Mailer, among others, back in the 50's. As an authority on the arts it commands a hell of a lot of respect and them writing about Trespassing is a major pr coup for Adam. That's why I am begging people to please not spoil it with their comments. We want the readers of this publication on board.

blogs.villagevoice.com/music/2012/05/adam_lambert_gay_pop_star.php100 & Single: Buy An Adam Lambert Album, Strike A Tiny Blow For Gay RightsThe album we can support to send this message is Adam Lambert's second major-label disc Trespassing, which arrives in stores on May 15—virtually one year to the day after the successful Bridesmaids opening. Why am I proposing we shell out hard cash for this frothy and reportedly fun pop disc, which is as light and apolitical as Bridesmaids was? Because in the nearly 60-year history of the weekly Billboard album chart, no single-artist title credited to an out gay performer has ever been our No. 1 album. (Nope, not him. Or him, either. Or her.) The key word in the above sentence is, of course, out. Numerous artists who have emerged from the closet in the last few decades, as the gay-rights movement has come out of the shadows, have topped the album chart. But crucially, not a one of them did so while fully public about his or her sexual orientation. The album chart is ecumenical and all-encompassing, its penthouse regularly occupied by pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop and country albums, all competing on roughly equal footing. And to Americans who consider themselves at the cultural middle of the road, a successful album is, still, the way an artist is perceived as culturally relevant—or, to borrow a term heavy with gay-rights baggage, real.IT'S A VERY LONG ARTICLE Thanks for finding this, gelly. This article could have major impact. I wish he could have also mentioned that the album is fantastic and deserves to be number one but every little bit of publicity helps. I seem to remember somebody from the Voice being really nasty about him and telling people to vote for Kris back around the end of Idol, so it's nice to see them swing in a different direction.

Maybe someone with many followers can tweet these sentiments? I have been a fan of The Village Voice for many years.

I just listened to the Pollo del Mar snippet. Wow, Adam a little flustered in his response. Damn radio politics. It makes you want to curl up into a fetal position and forget there is such a thing as radio politics. It appears that the main impetus for Adam's success lies at the feet of radio.
Gotta chuckle at Pollo del Mar. The name sounds so exotic, and she looks fierce, but translated "chicken of the sea" gotta chuckle.
