I love this song. I asked my cello teacher about the clapping in the beginning. She replied:
You mean the clapping right at the beginning? Yes, that is more complicated than 8th notes -- I'd write it as a quarter rest, dotted eighth note, 16th tied to a 16th, another dotted eighth note and another quarter rest (and repeat).
This didn't give me much hope that I would ever be able to get it together enough to do this in time with Adam live. However, I have realized that if I ignore the stomping, the clapping part is pretty easy. Not that I have actually managed it yet!

NNN Trespassing * the best (the only ) I could find on ytPublished on Apr 6, 2012 by heartNNsoul ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Great vimeo: NNN TSP (combo of 2 videos with different footage + improved audio) by Terra J vimeo.com/40390300~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EQMusic: Trespassing – The title track is one HELL of an opening track to one hell of an album. As I’ve said before, as a huge Queen fan, this track really hits home for me, as it sounds just like a Queen song jettisoned into 2012 (the bass line is especially reminiscent of Another One Bites the Dust). As Adam told us himself back in February, this track is a big exclamation of a “fuck you, I’m fierce!” mentality. It’s big, it’s in your face, it’s expressive and it’s anthemic. Perfect opening to this album. www.eqmusicblog.com/2012/05/album-review-trespassing-by-adam-lambert.html~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EvokeOnline: The album comes out of the door swinging. The title track kicks off the project and it must be the strongest album opener since Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night.” The beat and production, reminiscent of Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”, will have anyone pumping their fists and clapping along. The song is loud and a great way to get a party started. The track was the theme for the album and sums up the vibe quickly in a very pop way. evokeonline.com/music-review/adam-lamberts-trespassing-track-by-track-review/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Billboard: 1. Trespassing - A startling, stomping, altogether tremendous opening, in which Lambert snarls "Wait 'til you get a load of me" while strutting over a Pharrell Williams beat that Michael Jackson would have lovedwww.billboard.com/new-releases/adam-lambert-trespassing-track-by-track-1007060962.story#/new-releases/adam-lambert-trespassing-track-by-track-1007060962.story~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boners& Bitches: Opening the album is the title track Trespassing and it pretty much makes you want to get up and move. Lambert hasn’t strayed away from the fact that he’s a huge fan of Queen and the bassline of this song reminds me a lot of Another One Bites the Dust.bonersandbitches.tumblr.com/post/22962765035/album-review-adam-lambert-trespassing~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ USA Today: Trespassing (Pharrell Wiliams, Adam Lambert). Adam's album kicks off like a drill-team version of Queen's Another One Bites the Dust. It also establishes a recurring outsider theme, as Adam swaggers undaunted past a "No Trespassing" sign, singing "Life's my life and liberty, and I'll shine when I want to shine." Here, and throughout the album, Adam embraces his "other-than" status. For an artist (and an audience) that prides itself on pushing boundaries, this song's an audacious opening volley.content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2012/05/adam-lamberts-trespassing-a-track-by-track-review/1

Ever since we got a snippet of Trespassing during Adam’s birthday performance at the Q-Snowcase in Austria, I knew it was going to become a personal anthem for me and perhaps even one of my favorite songs of all time. Trespassing is a great title track for the new album. I am in love all over again with Adam’s passionate voice and his lyrics that are at once defiant and delightfully dippy. This song is charging, catchy, and full of attitude. I love the great strutting chorus. When my sister and I were trying to win tickets to see Adam during his radio promo tour, I listened to hours and hours of contemporary radio. While there were some songs I liked – Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” and Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” to name a couple – overall I had a feeling of numbness rather than excitement after my immersion, saturated with run-of-the-mill acts and vapid, timid songs. By contrast, “Trespassing” is a dynamic, propulsive song with a backbone. When I listen to this song, I imagine Adam giving the pop genre the swift kick in the ass it desperately needs! In live performance, Adam sings this song like a rebel king of emancipation. Even while getting to know his new songs, Adam has held nothing back and performed like a man who knows he wouldn't be on stage if it wasn't for the support of his fans and their willingness to scale the fence with him, to break in to today’s diluted pop scene. Trespassing is playful and gloriously upbeat. This is a song that strips away layers of cynicism and makes me believe all over again.

AFTERELTON:
Review: Adam Lambert's "Trespassing" Is Manna From Glitter Heaven1. TRESPASSING "No trespassing? Yeah, my ass! Wait till ya get a load of me!" Adam wisely places this funky foot stomper first, and declares from the outset that he's not going to conform to expectations. This ode to individuality is filled with sass, and the beat and in-your-face attitude are reminiscent of the Queen classic "Another One Bites The Dust." Best Lyric: "I ain't got BS in my bag, that's the one thing you can believe."Read more: www.afterelton.com/music/2012/05/adam-lambert-trespassing-review
