I'm one of those people with bad memories - not visual - I'll remember your face forever but please excuse me if I forget your name :-) But today, I was walking and listening to all the Trespassing tracks and realized I recall all the words to Take Back. Makes me wonder what I'm trying to tell myself, because those words obviously struck a chord. Love it when that happens - It's a gorgeous song but I feel really uneasy listening to it because it perfectly describes many parts of my life that I desperately want to forget, including my absolute lowest point. Same for Underneath. Adam did a phenomenal job of making them powerful and evocative but they hit home far too hard for my liking. I know what you mean. I have reached a point where it's time to re-examine some things I have done and said. I guess that the song just reinforced that. Only a handful of songs in my lifetime have really said something that I had to internalize. |

EW thing wasn't as bad as I expected from some of the reactions here. Just ignorance and bad attempts at jokes. Nothing really homophobic... While I respect your opinion, I can't agree. If this review was flipped and was about a black artist.. talking about black music for black people and fried chicken (and whatever lame stereotype they could come up with), people would make this national news (and rightly so). That kind of talk just doesn't fly here. It would be considered offensive and the NAACP would be on my evening news. Well I am not gay and it upsets me. But reading www.twitlonger.com/show/hbo6b7 Jordan's letter from a person who is gay perspective has me in tears and this must be how Adam could feel. It is heartbreaking to hear how it affects the man personally and professionally! |
