I know it probably won't happen, but it would be great if the EW review got about 1500 complaints. Just sayin'.

You can just imagine a bully or a "mean girl" in high school making those comments.
This is bad, and puts Maerz in a bad light.

It's kind of funny that her old collegue at the LA Times thinks Adam killed it, on the album. I am anxious to read his review!

I posted this earlier, but it needs repeating. Here's the link at GLAAD to report EW: www.glaad.org/webform/report-media-defamationIt says: GLAAD communicates with many editors, reporters and producers about media coverage both problematic and commendable. GLAAD needs your help in ensuring we are able to respond to the greatest number of important instances of media defamation. Please report unfair or defamatory coverage by using the form below. We thank you for your help in fighting defamation in the media. Thanks for the link. I just wrote GLAAD about this incident. I filled out a report as well. This so called music review is very offensive.

Okay, I had to go and comment on the article. If only to make myself feel a little better. I wrote: I want to add my voice to t hose who found this "review" offensive. I was not aware that there was "gay music" and "straight music." Is all dance club music "gay?" If I dance to it, will I become gay? Or is it an indication that I actually AM gay? (My husband will be so surprised.) Is all rock music "straight"? Or is it only rock guitar that is straight? cassie Thu 5/10/12 12:25 AM continuing.. I am from the dairy state. Does that mean I must only listen/create country music and polkas? If my iPod is full of jazz and celtic music, am I catering to black Irishmen? What type of make-up is acceptable for me? And how much emotion am I allowed to feel when I listen to or sing music, based on my sexual preferences? The fact that EW thinks this type of "review" is appropriate and clever disturbs me. I LOVE YOU CASSIE!!!

Lots of thoughts about the EW "review." 1. The author for a national magazine would not intentionally write a homophobic article. Nor would the magazine publish it if they perceived it to be. It is not homoPHOBIC. It wasn't written out of fear. But it is offensive, insulting, and pandering to narrow and ugly stereotypes of people who are gay. The problem is that the author and the editor most probably thought it was edgy and clever. Making jokes about minorities, by and large, has become unacceptable. The only "fair game" seem to be gays and overweight people. Folks feel free to make those groups the brunt of their "wit" and jokes. I imagine the author and editors of the magazine are astounded at the negative reaction and think it is political correctness run amok. C'mon, people can't you take a joke? 2. The wonderful thing about it is that hundreds, maybe thousands of people are saying, "No, we can't. We won't. It is NOT funny. It is hateful. We will not stand back and smile (grimace) and pretend that we enjoy your 'cleverness.'" Isn't that remarkable? Because of our love and respect for Adam, our eyes and minds are open as never before. And we, who at one time protested inequality and marched for civil rights, but have since "settled down" and become perhaps more complacent, grasp our power again, and rise up to call them out. 3. Adam is not political. He is not a campaigner for gay rights. He is a musician who just wants respect for his art. Wants the opportunity to prove himself on a level playing field. Yet, he is a catalyst for social change, just by being himself. We look at his talent, his courage, his guts, and his determination in the face of such ugliness, and gay rights is no longer a fringe issue bantered about by political and religious pundits. Because we know Adam, it has now become personal to us, and we are moved. That is fantastic! (Please don't argue that there are many, many other gay activists that have had great impact. Of course there are. But, this is Adamtopia, and we are talking about Adam here. He is a musical and social change agent.) Not to make light of all that you have commented on but fair game also includes bald people.....always the bald joke! I LOVE YOU ONCE AGAIN CASSIE. YOU ARE AFTER MY HEART.
