There were reportedly 1500 complaints to ABC regarding Adam's performance on the AMAs in 2009. Well, at this time, the little "review" in EW online has garnered 1229 comments, almost all of them protesting the insulting "gay" comments. That is only the online comments, not the emails or letters to the editor. Yet, I have seen no reporting of this article and the furor it has caused. And no response from EW.
I don't necessarily want this to get huge press coverage. Best to just express our opinions and let it go. But, part of me is irked by this double standard. If you know what I mean.

Uh huh I know what you mean.. that's why I thought it might have been a good idea to share this with the guy who wrote the Village Voice article. This incident perfectly illustrates his point. Yet there's a part of me that doesn't want this to get a lot of press either. ETA I know some people sent the review to Ann Powers and I think someone else I can't remember, but we haven't heard anything from them either. |

Just got done watching Adam on Chelsea and it was perfect! Adam was his usual handsome, charming self, Chelsea, obviously, did her homework and she really likes him too. I think like Kathy Griffin, Chelsea has a big gay following as well; hopefully, it will change some people's perspective or outlook of Adam since last era. Now off to bed. :-)

Yes, double standards at every twist of the path. Some of them more subtle than others. It takes a lot of strength to stand tall and express who one is when so many unconscious signals try to pull you under like a riptide. |

Chelsea is In Your Face and she doesnt sugarcoat her questions but what I liked about the chat was:
She raises the rumours and fear-based BS (you were in the closet before Idol (that rumour is often cited), what do you mean like rape? (for people who speculate if Adam's a bit "dangerous" sexually) and it gives Adam a chance to speak to those points in sweet and reasonable tones.
And offer her cookies.
And even when she focuses on his sexuality (raising the main focus so much of middle america has) she then makes light of the relevance of it to his music "gay, straight, chewy".

I don't want to be mean, but it's impossible for me to understand why Adam didn't choose Runnin' as a single. It's definitely way better than BTIKM+NCOE together....What a shame that we'll never see mv to this one-js
