I love love love Runnin'
My favourite line is
I've been standing here my whole life
Idk why maybe its something to do with...how i think this line reflects much of the experience of the human race including mine.
And its sung with compassion and yearning, so well sung that it gives me chills, and just takes me into a wide wide place with Mr Lambert, standing but gaining the power to truly move.
I think for Adam, he's tried a lot of addictive, crazy ultimately mechanical runnin - constant nightlife, hedonism, drugs, drink, emotional drama, relationship drama etc
He said in some interviews he's tried some extreme things to be able to just feel, when one is feeling numb.
But at some point, Adam chose to listen to his heart, to his deep inner knowing about what he was meant to do in life and what would give him the truest feeling of being alive.
And thats when he started to come alive in a much deeper way.
And thats when the life he dreamt about started become the life he was waking up to.
And the reason why i say that line : I've been standing here my whole life, seems to resonate with much of humanity is because
many of us are still not following our soul's dream.
And someone like Adam inspires us to go for it, more.
So i think this song is about being true to your heart and soul first and foremost.
And one manifestation of that might be a more genuine, intimate relationship that grounds and supports you.
And i think its wonderful that Adam should sing a song like this. Because then you get to see how he was runnin' runnin' from one filler to the next, like many of us.
He wasn't born with fully developed superpowers, after all. He was and still is so human.
But now he's had the courage to spread his wings
and jump.
ETA: I should qualify this by saying - this is my view of what the song means....but it means different things to different people of course - like all art!
