Nobody ever said NCOE has to smash; just that it needs to be a hit. And nobody ever said the era would be over. Adam has a ton of stuff scheduled this summer. BUT, if NCOE fails to hit on radio, I think it's pretty safe to say that a third single (fully supported by the label) will likely not happen. I still think NCOE can be that hit. Read back through the past two days' threads. It's been said. I still don't agree that a third single won't happen regardless. |

But I do not think radio is the only way to sell this album. There are many songs on this album that
RCA should be promoting to the dance clubs. From Donna Summer to Cher, songs that begin as club hits have made it to the radio and to a larger audience.This. Totally. I've never been shy about expressing that I don't think traditional radio is the be all end all, but if those who want to put all power in radio's hands and say if NCOE doesn't smash, the era is over, knock yourselves out. I don't believe it for a second. I believe in NCOE and I believe that RCA is biding its time. It hasn't been released to all markets and it won't even be released to radio until 5/29. It's 5/13. That's a long time with a LOT of promo in between. IMO, they have a plan. Trespassing is the priority right now. NCOE is the secondary, that will catch fire on Trespassing's coattails. And IMO, this is not your paint-by-numbers pop release. You can sing to me all the Radio-Is-King laments you want, but I will never believe that Adam will not get a third single from this stellar album because of RCA's original miscalculation of BTIKM (its issues had nothing to do with Adam or the album). I'm not blaming RCA; they made a bad call, whatever the reason – it can happen to anyone, but the key is to right the ship. I think they are making that effort with NCOE. I HOPE those PDs who championed NCOE will come through. If they have any integrity, they will. But like everything, I think organic growth will take over. Adam will sing this song everywhere and word of mouth will grow. I do think it was very smart for RCA to set the impact date AFTER all the promo. The focus is on the album now. NCOE will be a part of that fire. |

Betty....I PM'd you.  ETA: I think when the video for NCOE comes out there will be a boost in people buying it and the Trespassing album I think this video is going to get mega hits. 8-)
With Adam being the perfectionist, with all the radio promo, etc. when is he gonna fit in approving the video? He says he's gonna be gone for June and July, so his schedule may get in the way....didn't he say 3 weeks for the video....so that's the end of May hopefully coinciding with the impact date of NCOE. |

All this font talk is really confusing to me because the board looks exactly the same to me as it always has! :-/ huh? You don't see lots of members posting in different fonts and/or colour?? Q3 gave us all sorts of things to play around with. Nope. My normal white background and black text with occasional color. But people used occasional color before too. My pages look pretty much the same as always. |

Sorry, I was just speaking for tonight's discussion.
And I really do think RCA has done what is needed to get NCOE where it will need to be. I just think we haven't seen it yet ( which kind of makes sense as the impact date is still a couple weeks out)

Thanks SusieFierce and everyone responding. I actually think NCOE is a great song despite my preference for other singles (Cuckoo especially). I'm really hoping the radio team is doing their job at RCA. I know they got him lots of station visits, but I'm greedy and want spins!
