Jimmy Iovine is smart. Obviously, Scotty isn't going to have the numbers he did for his debut straight off Idol. But, if they can get album #2 out in the fall, he will probably do VERY well.
This is why I have trouble seeing Adam taking half a year or more to tour supporting this album (which will most likely be well out of the BB 200 unless something major changes). If his label/management is smart, they will have him involved in some kind of a new project in the US by the middle of next year (whether it's a third album or some other kind of project); maybe sooner depending on how things shake-out with Trespassing.

so where is that "king Joe" (? his name?) that was supposed to be pushing Adam? someone from Jive? I remember some talk about it here... and all those magic deal this king Joe was supposed to have been able to make...
I am becoming schizo... I keep oscillating between thinking that it is the song itself (easy cause I hate it) and the fact that I understand it is politics/business and has nothing to do with the song itself..
I would have to assume the numerous professional that comprise Adam's team, people who are responsible for spending the $s allocated to this project and minding the return on investment are interested in Adam's success even more than we are. I would think that their own livelihood depends on Adam's success...this leads me to believe that there is a long term plan in place and when Adam talks about "this is just the beginning" or "we are just starting" he is referring to that plan.
Anyhooo, I'll be texting my radio station - the all powerful Z100 ny - (from all available family phones) and voting in all the silly polls and buying anything that would support the album. (Just received the gorgeous Japanese edition and the huge poster and the BTIKM single CD!)
... hope the pro are doing their job as well.

... Elsewhere I read "fans expectations were hyped and it's time to face reality" (paraphrasing). That's a new way of thinking for me, I never saw that and what I saw over and over and over was give it 5 months and everything will be just great. I didn't see hyped fan expectations, either. Instead there was a lot of wait another week...wait...wait...every single week after btikm and ncoe were released. Adam might not be able to salvage this era in the US. Even if he appeared on SNL with Queen, the US radio would remain a lost cause. A third single after two failed singles and a low-selling album is less than useless. Adam had to make a comeback after a two and a half year long hiatus. Why his label assumed that he could succeed with a minimum of promotion and with a song like btikm is the real mystery. |

Maybe this is the answer to why minimal adds and minimal play. |
