I don't know that I'm buying any excuses RCA is throwing out there. Not at this point. This is the same label who tweeted about Euro 2012 this past weekend and instead of promoting one of their artists who was actually performing in Kiev, they used that to promote Sammy Adams. What that had to do with Euro 2012, I have no clue. I'm not even sure NCOE is the only song radio will play excuse holds up. They wanted that Bruno connection cause it's splashed all over their press releases and ads. They thought they wouldn't have to put any muscle behind it. My local HAC station in Dallas did give it a fair chance. In fact, they spun it as much as any big release by a Katy Perry, etc. But the PD really likes Adam. Then all of a sudden, they completely dropped it and are saying they dropped it cause they didn't get a good response to it. This is the same station who actively promoted it on Twitter and advertised themselves as the only station in Dallas who plays Adam Lambert. They haven't completely dropped playing Adam, they're just back to playing WWFM. I believe, in their case, they're telling the truth. They wouldn't go from full steam ahead promoting it to just nothing unless they truly didn't get a good response from it. Since they're in the #5 radio market in the country, do we not think that response didn't spread like wildfire to the other Clear Channel stations across the country. Dallas may have been one of a few markets test spinning it for the rest of the country for the Clear Channel franchise. If the response had been good, then we would have seen other stations picking it up. Instead, it got dropped like a hot potato.

After having said all this, I get back to why in the hell would you put a single out there that had mixed reviews, at best, and at other times, downright negative reviews, especially by fans of the artist in question? The same fans who the artist depends on to rally around it and request lke crazy. If a label doesn't have the smarts to tap into that enthusiasm, then honestly, they don't know what they're doing. Again, we're talking about a label who has failed to "break" a new artist in almost 3 years (Kesha).

ETA: That #1 status is nice, but that #1 status doesn't mean much if he plummets off the BB Top 200 in a matter of weeks and every single they release off it flops. RCA took the easy way out again with that. That #1 proclamation is not doing anything for Adam right now.

Great point. And I agree with the other posts upthread. I totally believe Adam is going to get whatever he needs in his life even if it's difficult. Because IMO, that's how our lives go and you must listen to the universe. He had some down years and making up for it now (listening LOL). Like we all do. But he has a destiny. Of some sort.

Let's face it, other artists (with the exception of most Idols and Xfact types) DID work in the business for many years before getting a godfather or finding success. He knows it. His Poland interview was the cutest thing about being the one on the couch without the 1 million successful singles and "I'm just starting out" statement.

Kesha has many years on Adam in the bus and was signed to other companys and under the guidance of Dr Luke, who while doing her first album sent Adam out with TOTALLY dated music (sorry Adam, loved it but not current next to Kesha). Could be at Adam's insistence, just like Trespassing. But my point is Kesha has "seniority" if you want to categorize it that way. And her stuff S M A S H E D.

He knows he would have been NOTHING in the business without the courage to go on Idol and while, I'm bitter, I trust he's smart enough to understand that being completely fabulous won't conquer politics.

Just like when Neil is ranting about the government I'm LMAO because if it was HIS money, like Adam's, being confiscated by taxes he'd be singing a different tune. Adam is balanced.

Anyway, RCA did NOT have to release Kris who they KNEW wouldn't do a thing but were contractually obligated to release...out around the time with Adam. But IMO they were being smart asses trying to let Kris ride on Adam and Idol on the budget plan.

They also knew that dope from this year's Idol (sorry if you like him lol) was going to sucker punch Adam with that finale. But they didn't know the song would hit like it did.

I don't fault RCA for being out of the loop and not understanding that boy bands and Euro invasion was coming since I don't think they are that bright and cutting edge and basically jackasses. I completely fault them for not having their deals in PLACE.

Now, the other thing is, Adam had the law suit AND he has stated that coordinating a release INTERNATIONALLY is very complicated so I take his word for that.

And I think it's clear radio almost demanded a Bruno type song after hearing Trespassing. He said as much.

Of course there is payola. Read the article on How RAdio gave Beiber A Second Chance.

After "radio programmed the song to win" I looked at radio's websites and Beiber had at least 4 text blocks and side bars with free tickets to his shows, and other crap like that.

Meanwhile, yes no promo from RCA Promo and I even tweeted them about it a few weeks ago I think. Snark and sarcasm.

I assume they ignored Queen+Adam because it's not in their revenue bucket and DMG is handling it. I saw three names on the credits of Kiev and I think they are DMG. LOL idiots at RCA Promo tweet AFTER the concert "oh look we like this video". eyeroll

We also don't know if it's DMG who's doing alot of the setups in promo that we see or RCA. Shosh is probably contracted by RCA cuz wasn't she around last era?

It all costs money, her time picking out outfits etc LOL so we don't know who's paying. It could be DMG or out of Adam's "pocket".

UGH. My HUGE consolation is that Roger & Brian will be the best thing that ever happened to him personally/professionally after Idol and Sauli. They'll advise him correctly IMO. :lninja:

While they have no experience in homophobic radio bias, they are pretty bright and experience and caring. Why would radio want an Adam Lambert with his "baggage" of potentially them getting hate mail etc when they could go with the sexy blond chick in the halter on the cover (Hailey whoever)

He's gonna have to make himself undeniable again like last era for radio IMO. Maybe there'll be a 3rd single later this summer depending on the Queen stuff or how he does in the UK radio. I'm not even LOOKING at the UK radio chart till next week. :

I think that Adam ( RCA) were trying to understand what US radio wants from Adam, what kind of Adam they will take.

Not NCOE Adam, it turns out.

I'm hoping for UK success.

And Adam loves touring, maybe that isn't such a gruesome way of making money for him. If he continues making great music, will not US radio have to bow to that? Maybe it just takes time.

By The Rules is number one on Brazilian radio. Is that impossible in US, for radio to play a non single song?
