isitjustme, I have had some of the same thoughts regarding RCA and the queen concerts. I wonder if they are on the same page as Adam in terms of this? The timing with regards to Trespassing and it's promo isn't the best. Adam has gotten to do a bunch of stuff in the UK since he is there (which is great), but Trespassing promo has seemed to come to a stop in the US and any place else that isn't the UK (basically, I am thinking of Australia and Canada, here). I hope RCA isn't ticked about this---they have done nothing to publically support and promote these concerts. The sales for Trespassing in the US are kind of taking a nose-dive. I just hope Adam and his RCA team are in-synch with all this. Well... hard to be in two places at the same time...although he did try and flew to SF.... He is cracking a very important market, it seems to be working, so IMO - there is no reason to complain...He is promoted as an international star as he is...In two weeks he will be doing all kinds of appearances back in the US... nobody knows what the Queen effect might be...no one has done this...no one ever will...he is unique and his path is unique...

Yes, Nica, you are absolutely right. Adam is in a very unique situation, which only happens to very unique artists . It is noted by the music industry... my opinion, of course.

The details weren't all ironed out but they've been in talks to do these shows for months. Trespassing was originally scheduled to be released back in March while Adam was in the midst of the radio tour and would have given him 2 whole months to promote it in the US and Canada. RCA is the one who made the decision to delay the release until mid-May. So I don't see why they would have any reason to be pissed at Adam. They're the ones who disrupted the whole promotion schedule.

And do we know for sure that it was RCA that wanted to delay the release of Trespassing or maybe partly the Executive Producer?

There's no other explanation for sending him on a radio tour with a dead song, and for setting ncoe impact date after album release. btikm's failure meant Trespassing would appear with no single and little promo. All of that is reflected in the sales. Why this approach?

The delay was due to finishing NCOE (although even when it was done they took their time in releasing it) and then, when the original date hadn't been met, the delay also had to do with finding Trespassing a release date that would give it the best chance of reaching #1 (working around Madonna and Carrie, among others). So, kind of a combination of things lead to Maypril, and then mid-May.
Just speculation, but I believe that last Fall, RCA heard what was completed for Trespassing and "panicked" at the perceived lack of radio friendly songs. They found what they probably thought was a sure thing in NCOE and brought in their other "sure thing" Dr. Luke. In retrospect, the only way NCOE was going to be a sure thing was if Bruno was singing it.
I don't think RCA gains anything directly from the Queen concerts. Meanwhile Trespassing got the big International release (which apparently isn't an easy thing to coordinate) and Adam is not able to actively promote it anywhere but the UK.
Anyway, we will all see how things proceed once Adam is back in the US. Hopefully, there is some kind of Plan B in place, whatever it might be.

What would a plan B, C, D in the US look like if US radio won't play him? There was a rickety plan A based on btikm and ncoe, and it didn't work. He's already done a radio tour, interviews, concerts to no avail. With two failed songs and a stubborn radio, why would his label risk a third single? imho he should be promoting in the UK and internationally, wherever radio is willing to play him. Give up on the US.

Scoundrels get a cut of his income for a LOOOOONNNGGG time, I forget the details though. It's like a finder's fee. Someone from MJs may remember this non sequitur lol.

Frankly, I think RCA is waiting to see how he does in the UK before they do anything else in the US. If he doesn't hit in the UK this time around, I don't see them throwing support behind a third single in the US. I'm feeling confident about here in the UK. The exposure has been amazing, when my own grandparents tell me "oh hey Adam Lambert stuff in the paper" or non-Adam fans tell me "oh hey I saw Adam Lambert on Graham Norton, he's really good live" then I know it's working! Getting good airplay too, pre-orders for NCOE and TP are strong. I can't see it not cracking the top 40, and maybe the Radio 1 DJs will take notice and be more into it than they were FYE. Can only hope but I'm feeling positive ;D On Wednesday is the midweek chart show so we'll know roughly what to expect on next Sunday. All digits crossed! :D Did you see the latest UK Radio Airplay Chart? www.ukairplaychart.com/uk/rolling_week/ Down 22 spots from last week (#72 - #94). This chart is based on AI I believe. Are you still optimistic? Someone mentioned RCA is busy with KP and yes WOW they sure are! But aren't they big enough to promo more than one artist at a time? Oh wait - they're on CB now too.
