I just think his songs sound good, simple as that I do think he has a good voice. Sure he's not Adam-tier but it's more than good enough for his music see... sounds dismissing to me... have you heard him lately and live? ... (and yes, I am using the same expression as Adam used ;D...) Sure, he's not very good live but that doesn't dampen his studio output at all. For me anyway

I had a bit of a talk with one of my daughters about Adam and radio. She loves the man but not his music.. she feels it's too over produced. Some of it definitely is like Pick U Up and Aftermath and I once read NCOE being described as "overproduced and undercooked at the same time" which seems accurate to me

mika, please don't go anywhere. Since you said something, I feel the need to say that I contacted Hoppers about moving many posts from yesterday/this morning to the thread for discussion of the music industry and she said that she would do so as soon as RL permits. Also pm'ing you. Everybody hang on. I think we are all just figuring out where to post with the changes in the main thread. ETA: Welcome jean1010! Have a great trip mwp!

Just a reminder - There are many wonderful threads here at atop - the daily news thread of course which encompasses discussion of Adam songs, performances, etc and still others including: One focused on Trespassing music: adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=adam2One for lovely posts called Inspired by Adam: adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=inspiredETA: Thanks Junie - will not go anywhere. Except will go outside and enjoy the ridiculously beautiful weather and not be crazed by packing for a while. One cannot live by night alone and I'm slightly paler than Adam so off to the rays and observing the mysterious ways of day dwellers

Nica, this thread is still evolving and is not even an official Atop thread ... It's still good old Re: 5.22.2012 .... that was created to contain some angst during the day Adam hit #1 ... I'm sure Hoppers can explain it better than I can and if she wants to delete this post she can ...
Some Atoppers started coming here to enjoy it as a comfortable, laid-back spot to exchange ideas safely that are not really "news," or that are a little too dark or complicated or require too much consideration to fit in the fast-paced, heavily-trafficked daily news. Lots of deep thoughts, fantasy, poetry, and philosophy have been posted in here ... things to go away and think about ...
That is an uneasy mix with posts analyzing the "biz," demographics, HAC/CHR, discussion of the pros and cons of Justin Bieber's music, etc. But that stuff needs a home too. I asked Hoppers about it and she promised to get back when RL permits later and make sure there is a home for both.

I totally agree that these events are money making for Adam (with no risk) and of course are beneficial for the organizers (otherwise they would not be inviting him). They sell rooms, drinks, people gamble, or buy hot dogs and water...whatever... that is not what I am looking at... the thing is that both Adam and his team might be using these to gauge the viability of the tour - at least the US leg. I suppose selling say 80% is not bad...or may be they will go for mid-size venues again (would be great for us and bad for Adam). also, he is invited back because he sold out last time...well, may be the Queen related press will help... I agree, we may not see sell-outs across the board this era, but any artist who can sell 2,000-5,000+ tickets is in good shape- radio hit or not! Adam will need to bring in new fans in other ways, if the whole radio thing is a bust this time around. If Adam could get a decent sized Pop hit this era, it would greatly help the situation- but if not, Adam and RCA will have to explore other ways to keep his starpower up and ways to reach new fans.

ok, people...im confused...what r we supposed to be posting in this thread? I thought it was for angst or negative type comments that didn't belong in the light thread. I would think that would include anything from negativity towards radio stations and PDs or popular music in general, worry about the sale of concert tickets, negativity over articles or interviews, negative opinions on the band or people in Adam's life, etc. These types of subjects are the "negative topics" that get posted in the regular thread during the week. IDK- what else is it supposed to be?

At the airport so I'm afraid I must post and run, which perhaps one shouldn't do... I feel like I should apologize because maybe my posts were, in part, inappropriate for this space, like shouting in a cathedral or something, but I'm not quite sure where I went wrong, other than that feeling one always gets (does everyone? I do anyway) of momentary regret as soon as one hits "post reply," because one--oh, hell, I--probably missed something or overstated or repeated something in some annoying way...but you (now where am I with my vague pronouns?--in a muddle is where) go ahead and post anyway because that's the point of the place. :-/ Anyway, for a second I went back to delete, but then that seemed silly and self-indulgent, so I didn't. This isn't a scrolly kind of place, I know, so I won't invite you to scroll. I'll just leave an apology, instead, if I trod on some of your lovely flowers by accident, and will be more careful where I step in the future, and try to respect the hush of the hour. By the way, don't worry, I know this obscure discussion of discomfort wasn't all about me--but I also feel I was involved in some way in missing the tone. It's difficult to get right, but we can learn if people tell us. Now I better post before my limited free airport wifi goes poof, and this probably silly post with it. Oh, and I wanted to add, thanks so much for wishing me a good trip ....honestly, I'm a homebody at heart and hate traveling, it unmoors me and I'm better tethered, but do a lot of it as my family is spread wide over an overlarge planet, and I try my best to shrink it despite myself. Not that I'm complaining--I'm a lucky ducky, of course, to get to go to London, etc.

I don't know where this thread is headed either, but we must be doing something right because it is longer than threads that have been here since ATOP started. It's my new safe place and I really like the company.
MWP, enjoy the trip. Introvert that I am, I'm a homebody too but would love to go to London since I am such an Anglophile. I think I will watch A Room with a View again -- haven't seen it since I was a teen.
Juniemoon, thank you for your efforts in keeping the thread going.
Mika, you better stick around--wouldn't be the same if you didn't.
Momtomany, I was glad to see your post make it to the daily thread--I always feel your writing.
