His arrival bumps last week's leader, Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away," down to No. 3 (54,000; down 55%). It's Lambert's first No. 1 album and is his second major label studio set. It follows 2009's "For Your Entertainment," which debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 198,000 sold in its first week. It was blocked from No. 1 by Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" (a debut at No. 1 with 701,000) and Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas" at No. 2 (218,000). Ok....its now OFFICIAL!!!! Kanadie: Thanks for responding. I wonder at Adam's choice not to bring his own sound engineers, knowing how exacting he is. Also knowing how unique his voice is, and what he can do with it that other sound engineers would not be accustomed to. But, maybe the people responsible for the equipment and sound at the venue are not too crazy about letting a "stranger" mess with their equipment, too. I would like to also support the ladies doing back up. I keep saying this, but, ladies and gentlemen, IF YOU CANNOT HEAR YOUR OWN VOICE YOU CANNOT STAY ON PITCH. It is like trying to hit the bulls eye of the target blindfolded. They sounded good in the AOL Sessions videos, where the sound was set so they could hear themselves. I don't think it is lack of technique, or lack of a good ear for pitch. I think it is all about the balance of the sound they are hearing or not hearing. While I agree the off-key singing is painful, I am not ready to throw the ladies to the wolves. Yes but Adam has a new singer and I think she does have a problem with pitch. The two original women were great. This is my thought too. Time will tell:-) Yeah, so happy for BB confirmation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also brought over from yesterday (Thanx!):
Thanks I understand it a little better. I guess I'm having a problem why it's hard to get the mix right. I'm guessing that the sound guy gets lists from the performers requesting their mixes. Is the disconnect when the bands hook their equipment up to the venue's system? All equipment and systems being different, now I'm guessing that a sound check is all about the ear monitors and not the venue speakers. So, since "sound" seems to be a problem everywhere, it must not be totally the "sound guy".
Read more: adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=896&page=65#ixzz1vhPX7AmASeeing many "singers" don't sing live (aka lip sync brigade) they don't have a problem... Adam is a challenge for sound guys I'd imagine. First he actually sings and relies on the mix. Second he's a perfectionist and wants best sound for audience of his music. Third he appears to have glittery alien ears that are particularly hard to fit ear monitors for... Ok kidding about last one. :-)
Thanks Hoppers and Cassie (who went into more detail at the bottom of yesterday's thread). Okay, I realize now (and appreciate) what a treat it is when the sound is "just right". Last question -- these sound guys, what type of experience, education, etc. would they typically have? Are they typically independent contractor types or venue employees? Did Adam travel with a sound guy when he was on tour? It seems like a very comlex, high stress, occupation.
