www.pinkisthenewblog.com/2012/05/adam-lambert-becomes-the-first-out-gay-artist-to-top-the-billboard-top-200-album-chart/Adam Lambert Becomes The First Out Gay Artist To Top The Billboard Top 200 Album Chart Congratulations are in order for American Idol alum Adam Lambert today because his new album Trespassing has debuted in the #1 spot atop this week’s Billboard magazine Top 200 Album Chart. Not only is this #1 album significant in terms of Adam‘s success but it is also historic in that Lambert is now the first openly gay artist to have the #1 album in the US — ever! Click below to read all the deets about Adam‘s revolutionary and much deserved achievement. Honestly, I’m quite surprised that it’s taken this long for an out gay performer to reach the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 200. But, this is a very significant achievement, one that Adam will be able to enjoy forever. He is the first out performer to hit #1, no one else will ever take that distinction from him. Sometime in the (hopeful) near future, we won’t even have to take notice of gay artist achievements on the album charts because our culture will evolve beyond caring … but until that day, we should happily celebrate each significant achievement like this one. Congrats Adam!

Know what you mean -- I went back and watched the Long Island AI vids the other night -- I guess we'll have to wait until tour time.

latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/Adam Lambert's chart-topper 'Trespassing' is a high and a low May 23, 2012 | 11:16 am When Season 11 of "American Idol" comes to a close in a few hours, no one should feel too sorry for the runner-up. One need only to look to this week's pop charts for evidence that the "American Idol" crown isn't a requisite to cultivating a fanbase. The flamboyantly theatrical pop-rocker Adam Lambert finished second on "American Idol" during its eighth season, and this week he earned his first No. 1 album in "Trespassing." Lambert's "Trespassing," his second full-length since competing on the talent show, sold 77,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album's title track, meanwhile, has sold just north of 11,000 downloads. ...

And Runnin'! Edit: Robert Marvin that is! Yes! And he did the best BTIKM remix. I am proposing that Marvin, Sam, and Pharrell to be the sole producers of the next album!! MTE!!! I love their contributions the best!

Adam Lambert tops album chart
www.variety.com/article/VR1118054548?refCatId=16
"It's the first No. 1 album for the 2009 "Idol" runner-up, but it came amid a week of flat sales stats. Trespassing" is the lowest-selling No. 1 entry since singer-songwriter Amos Lee's "Mission Bell" reached No. 1 with a 40,000-unit debut week in February 2011."
Any Numbers ppl around? I thought the estimate (which was lower than 77K) was supposed to be the lowest since Aug. of 2011? Wasn't there a 74K sales in there somewhere? Anyone know?
Not that it matters! He's #1! But this confused me. ETA: OK - to clarify, this is from Billboard: "Trespassing's" 77,000 start is the smallest sum at No. 1 on the chart since the tally dated Aug. 20, 2011, when Adele's "21" sold 76,000 in its 12th nonconsecutive week atop the list. "Trespassing" has the smallest sales week for a No. 1 debut since Amos Lee's "Mission Bell" started in the penthouse with 40,000 on the Feb. 12, 2011 chart." So it's not the "lowest-selling #1 entry. It's the lowest selling #1 DEBUT entry".
