latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/Adam Lambert's chart-topper 'Trespassing' is a high and a low May 23, 2012 | 11:16 am When Season 11 of "American Idol" comes to a close in a few hours, no one should feel too sorry for the runner-up. One need only to look to this week's pop charts for evidence that the "American Idol" crown isn't a requisite to cultivating a fanbase. The flamboyantly theatrical pop-rocker Adam Lambert finished second on "American Idol" during its eighth season, and this week he earned his first No. 1 album in "Trespassing." Lambert's "Trespassing," his second full-length since competing on the talent show, sold 77,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album's title track, meanwhile, has sold just north of 11,000 downloads. ... Wow, 11K downloads of Trespassing track? Isn't that good for not being a single?

www.hollywoodreporter.com//idol-worship/adam-lambert-trespassing-album-328493Adam Lambert's 'Trespassing' Debuts at No. 1 The "American Idol" runner-up adds another major milestone to his list of achievements: a chart-topping album on the Billboard 200. 11:36 AM PDT 5/23/2012 by Shirley Halperin Michael Becker / FOX Adam Lambert has seen more monumental moments than most -- chief among them: coming in second on American Idol -- and this week, the glam rocker adds another to his long list of achievements: his first No. 1 album. Trespassing, which was released on May 15, moved 77,181 copies in its first week out, says a rep for the singer citing Nielsen SoundScan data. That's good for the much coveted top spot on the Billboard 200, besting the likes of Adele, Carrie Underwood and Norah Jones. To promote the album, Lambert has appeared on Idol, where he performed his new single, "Never Close Our Eyes," as well as Jimmy Kimmel Live! and scores of radio station-sponsored concerts. Last week, The Hollywood Reporter asked Lambert what a No. 1 album would mean to him. Hear his response below: ...

I wish these articles would stop diminishing Adam's achievement with that "lowest selling #1 since August" qualifier. It's still the highest selling album of this week, and--correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you take Adele out of the equation, there would have been plenty of lower selling #1 albums between August and now. Adele's incredible success caused many albums to debut at #2 that otherwise would have been #1 with lower numbers than Adam. Am I right about that, Q3?

I was lamenting on the plane ride home after the Boston Kiss concert. Recalling fondly Fantasy Springs and thinking that we would never see Adam like that again. I knew that even at the FS concert. But when you look at the pictures in the trespassing album , the spirit is still there. And I do think we will see it again on the Trespassing tour. Adam has said he wants to please his fans, he knows what we want and he will deliver. He always (at least since AMA) structures his performance to the situation. Really, I have enjoyed watching Adam evolve, too. What an amazing journey it has been to follow.

blogs.detroitnews.com/poptropolis/2012/05/23/charts-adam-lambert-trespasses-his-way-to-the-top/Charts: Adam Lambert trespasses his way to the top American Idol” alums continue to rule Billboard’s albums chart this week, as Adam Lambert inherits the No. 1 spot from Carrie Underwood, who spent the last two weeks at No. 1 with her album “Blown Away.” More significantly, with his second album “Trespassing,” Lambert becomes the first openly gay artist to claim a No. 1 album in the U.S., as the set sold 77,000 copies its first week in stores, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
