Daily Kos: A Cultural Milestone? Is this a big deal?Today, Billboard magazine will do what it does every Wednesday. It will publish its Billboard 200 album chart. And as often happens someone who has never topped its chart will be there. But there is something different this time. In the context of this post, in the context of expanding the range of human activity and achievement that out gay people can fully take part, there is history being made. Today for the first time in US music history, an out LGBT artist will top Billboard's album chart. That artist is Adam Lambert, the album is Trespassing, and, may I add, an outstanding pop album that may be one of the best pop albums in the last ten years or so. While some may want to diminish this moment by noting that LGBT artist have most certainly topped the Billboard album chart before, it is also true that none have been publicly LGBT while sitting atop Billboard's perch. It was, until now, an unspoken rule that to occupy this spot, gay artists had to hide their sexual orientation, even outright deceive the public about it if necessary. This, therefore, is most definitely a unique moment in US music history. Others may want to diminish the moment by pointing out that this was a slow week in sales, but no out artist has ever topped the charts even on slow sales weeks. This is a cultural milestone to be sure. Is it a big deal? To me, and the life I lived, and the life I know gay kids are living at this moment, to the dreams those gay kids have, to be able to see this moment in our cultural history, that they can exercise the full range of human activity while being just as public about their sexual orientation as straight people are, this milestone gives them hope.
Congratulations to Adam Lambert.Link: www.dailykos.com/story/2012/05/23/1093998/-A-Cultural-Milestone-Is-this-a-big-deal-ETA Readon, jinx! It really is a wonderful article OMG! What a beautiful article! <<< happy and sad tears all at once!

After careful consideration, I've chosen my favourite pic of the day. It has a few close contenders, but still... It's Virg's broken camera fabulousness: Adam Lambert sings into the mic and down my spine: P.S. Where did that lovely post about a lady picking up some lost tourists from England go? Lady, whoever you are, I loved your story! Thank you aleksandrakv !

The "lake house" could easily be in Sullivan County, NY, or Bucks County, PA. There are lakes all over that area. And the Delaware River. That view could also pass for parts of the Delaware River. Here's a place overlooking the Delaware River, with similar feel ourcountryhome.wordpress.com/2011/05/23/historic-settings-modern-flair-three-family-resort-destinations/The pool and balcony railings are old school. If that was a channel off the Hudson River in Upstate, NY - which the body of water looks a lot like - they would have been tastefully renovated. Sullivan County and PA (Which are right next to each other) have lots of Pocono flavored lake and riverfront houses. I am not familiar enough with PA - or even the possible Catskills and Jersey areas it could be - to give more opinion. But those are distinct possibilities. But they are in New Jersey! Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Do we have any NJ people here that know of lakes or rivers around that area?

Q3.... This week, Adam had topped the charts and digital download both in US and Canada. Has any other Idol debut album accomplished same "top" honors? It is the 6th time for debut week -- and the 7th Idol alum album to have a #1 on both charts. (Daughtry did it in 2 different weeks in 2006.) Carrie Underwood has 3 #1 albums Blown Away 2012 #1 Billboard 200 #2 Digital Albums 1. Carnival Ride 2009 #1 Billboard 200 #1 Digital Albums 2. Play On 2007 #1 Billboard 200 #1 Digital AlbumsKelly has 2 #1 albums 3, All I Ever Wanted 2009 #1 Billboard 200 #1 Digital AlbumThankful 2003 #1 Billboard 200 [pre-dates Digital Album chart] Daughtry has 2 #1 albums ?? Daughtry 2006 #1 Billboard 200 (reached #1 in week 9 with 65,000 units, debuted at #2 with 304,000 units) #1 Digital Album (debut week)[/b] 4. Leave This Town 2009 #1 Billboard 200 #1 Digital Album[/b] Clay has 1 #1 album Measure of a Man 2003 #1 Billboard 200 [pre-dates Digital Album chart] Ruben Studdard has 1 #1 album Soulful 2003 #1 Billboard 200 [pre-dates Digital Album chart] Scotty McCreery has 1 #1 album 5. Yeah...It looked like he really looked starstruck to me. It was hard for him to get his thoughts and words out at the same time. ;D

I signed in with twitter and facebook and tried to vote, but it let me only vote two times in the category "Fan Army", after that I always got an error message. And in the other category I got this error message from the beginning! :-/ Anyone else having those problems? Or did I make a mistake? ???
I just did Must Follow...... and it allowed only 1 vote, then errored ??? I used Twitter as well; scared of Facebook :-/.Thank you, justgill and smokeyvera, for answering my question about the omusicawards-voting! I think I found the solution! : After signing in with twitter and/or facebook you can vote once but then you have to remove the small hooks next to "twitter" and "facebook" again to continue your voting. It worked for me this way! Oh and which category is more important? Or shall we divide our votes? ??? (I have two twitter accounts and used one of them for each category today!) 8-)

LAWeekly: "Comment: People Like Us"Speaking of the objectification of men, some readers took issue with writer Lina Lecaro's observation that Adam Lambert's most rabid fans — the Glamberts — are females who respond to the singer in a decidedly nonplatonic way, even though Lambert is a proud gay man. "To say we have a 'nonplatonic' love for him is crazy," Chica writes. "Adam is gay, we know this, we embrace it, we wouldn't have him any other way. Doesn't mean the man isn't sexy as hell, though! He gets us. That's all that matters." "Well of course it's platonic," adds Ali Goria. "We may have met him on Idol but we got to KNOW him through his open heart. We are his figurative sisters, daughters, lovers, mothers, lawyers, dog walkers, bakers and plumbers — the (mostly) women who are birthing, raising and guiding the postgay generation. Adam Lambert did more for the LGBT movement in five minutes on TV in 2009 than any other person in entertainment history. "Adam forged his own path, using our shoulders and encouragement to gain his footing in a homophobic industry intent on making sure he 'knew his place.' Work that Billboard chart, Adam! You just may finally be the first openly gay person to top it in 60 years!" Link: www.laweekly.com/2012-05-24/news/comment-people-like-us/

Charity Water total is currently $81,774. mycharitywater.org/p/campaign?campaign_id=22963How can we get the old fandom enthusiasm focused back on reaching the Charity Water goal as a way of celebrating Adam being #1 on the Billboard 200? Ideas anyone?peace&love I dunno, bb... I think the only thing that might make any difference at this point is a direct tweet from Adam. :-/ Love you for trying so hard!!! I agree with this. I donated earlier today and sent out a tweet, and only one other person has donated after me. I only have 57 followers on Twitter. If Adam would tweet a reminder to his 1.46 million followers, and even 1% of them donated $10, there would be $146,000 in addition to the $81,774 there is now! Heck, if they even donated $5 apiece, the goal would be more than met.
If anyone here wants to make that happen, please go here and donate!
